2. Aadhaar-card seeding mismatch — under “One Nation One Ration Card” (ONORC), Aadhaar must be linked to ration card.

4. Wrong FPS allocation — card linked to a far-off FPS or one which is closed; needs reallocation.
5. Cancellation without notice — card cancelled by district F&CS for “ineligibility” (e.g., income above threshold) — but no show-cause notice issued.
6. FPS dealer denying full quota — common harassment; dealer says “stock not available” while diverting grain.
7. Member who left family still on card — deceased / migrated member needs deletion to prevent fraud charges.
8. Card type wrong — should be AAY (poorest) but issued as priority household, missing the higher quota.

1. Step 1 — Identify your jurisdictional office. District Supply Officer (DSO) at the Office of the District Magistrate. State Food and Civil Supplies Department for state-level matters.
2. Step 2 — Locate your application / card details. Application number / card number / family head's name + Aadhaar.
3. Step 3 — Draft the RTI. Use the sample below. Be specific about dates + persons + work IDs.
4. Step 4 — Pay the state RTI fee. Most states ₹10; some states ₹50 (TN, HR, PB, RJ, GJ).
5. Step 5 — Send by Speed Post (AD). Universal fallback. Online portals exist in some states (UP, Bihar, Karnataka).

• Disclosing full Aadhaar — security risk. Use last 4 digits only in the RTI.
• Asking the FPS dealer directly — dealer is a delegated public authority but the principal record holder is the DSO.
• No fee proof — non-acceptance.
• Asking “why was my card cancelled” — RTI gives noting, not reasons. Reframe as “the noting + show-cause notice”.
• Forgetting state SLA — cite the state PDS Control Order paragraph for the timeline.

Yes. RTI gets you the cancellation order + the absence-of-notice record. With that evidence, file a §19(1) First Appeal claiming the cancellation is void for lack of notice (per state PDS Control Order). Sunita's case (above) follows exactly this path.

File RTI for: (a) the monthly stock-receipt log of the FPS for the last 12 months, (b) the household-wise distribution log, © the dealer's licence number + warning history. Use the reply at the Vigilance Committee at the district level.

ONORC allows you to draw your grain quota at any FPS in India once Aadhaar is seeded. Useful for migrant workers. RTI to your home-state F&CS for ONORC enablement.
