About RTI Wiki

RTI Wiki is India's independent citizen-first reference for the Right to Information Act, 2005. We do not file RTIs on behalf of users — we equip every citizen to file their own. Our goal: make the RTI Act work for the 1.4 billion Indians who own it.

What we publish

  • 700+ articles covering every angle of RTI: filing, escalation, sample formats, state rules, scheme guides
  • 300+ case-law entries — Supreme Court Constitution Bench rulings, High Court orders, CIC + State IC decisions
  • 22 free tools — AI RTI Drafter, AwaazRTI (voice), First Appeal Builder, PIO Reply Checker, Timeline Tracker, Citation Formatter, Fee Calculator, and more
  • State coverage — all 36 states + UTs, with 941 panchayat-level pages and 815 city-service pages
  • Hindi + 11 Indian languages via AwaazRTI voice tool
  • Citizen Intelligence dashboards — Citizen 360 (PIN code → civic snapshot), CPGRAMS Escalator, ECourts Tracker, MP/MLA Tracker, Vehicle RC Decoder, IFSC + Aadhaar + PAN + EPIC + GSTIN decoders

Editorial principles

  • Citizen-first — every guide written for the everyday citizen, not the lawyer
  • Plain English — no Latin except for statutory references
  • Every claim cited — Act, Rule, Court, Commission
  • Real-life examples — named protagonists, real districts, real recoveries
  • Free + no login — all tools work without signup
  • No paywall — content remains free in perpetuity
  • Privacy — your name, address, RTI text stay in your browser; only the AI prompt is sent to the AI for drafting

How RTI Wiki is funded

RTI Wiki is reader-funded. We do not run paid ads against scheme money. We do not sell user data. We do not register as an §80G entity — donations are not tax-deductible. Every rupee goes into research, content updates, server costs and the team. See how to support RTI Wiki.

Editorial transparency

  • Every article shows a Last reviewed on date
  • Every page lists the statute / case-law / portal source for each claim
  • Corrections welcome at admin@bighelpers.in — published with attribution
