LPG eKYC 2026: Subsidy Stopped? Complete It Free Now

1. Subsidy stopped, paying full price: Your eKYC is pending. Complete it (Way 1 below). You become eligible for domestic rates again after eKYC is recorded.
2. Got an SMS about eKYC or a cut-off date: The company message said the last date was “extended till 23.08.26” from 16 August 2026. Act now; do not wait for the next reminder.
3. Told the connection will be cut: The reported consequence is that you stop getting cylinders at domestic rates until eKYC is done. Complete eKYC, then ask the distributor to confirm your record is active.
4. Completed eKYC but subsidy still not credited: eKYC is one of three links in the chain. Check your 17-digit LPG ID, Aadhaar-bank link and the NPCI mapper in the section below.
5. Did eKYC last year: Official clarifications say consumers whose eKYC is already complete do not need to repeat it. If your company SMS still shows pending, check your status first (link below) before redoing anything.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the three state-run oil marketing companies — IndianOil (Indane), HPCL (HP Gas) and BPCL (Bharat Gas) — made biometric Aadhaar authentication (eKYC) compulsory for domestic LPG consumers to keep subsidy and domestic-price benefits under PAHAL (DBTL). The drive targets duplicate and fake connections.

Consumers received messages warning that the last date had been “extended till 23.08.26”, after which they “may not be eligible to receive LPG cylinders at domestic rates”. The Times of India reported the same rule in plainer words: without eKYC you are ineligible for cylinders at domestic rates till e-KYC is completed. That word “till” matters — the bar lifts as soon as you finish eKYC.

For Ujjwala (PMUY) households, the money at stake changed in June 2026: the subsidised refill quota was reduced from 9 to 4 cylinders a year, while the subsidy amount stays ₹300 per 14.2 kg cylinder. So every stuck eKYC now blocks up to four ₹300 payments.

The official route is on the PMUY eKYC page. It asks you to use “the Mobile App of the Oil Company along with the Aadhaar FaceRD App”.

1. Step 1 — Install two apps: your gas company's app — IndianOil ONE for Indane, HP Pay for HP Gas, the Bharat Gas app for Bharat Gas — and UIDAI's Aadhaar FaceRD app. Get both from the official Google Play or App Store listings linked on the PMUY page, never from an APK site.
2. Step 2 — Log in with your registered mobile number and the MPIN you set in the gas app.
3. Step 3 — Open the eKYC option. In IndianOil ONE it sits under the IndianOil services section.
4. Step 4 — Enter your Aadhaar number and give consent for authentication.
5. Step 5 — The app hands you to Aadhaar FaceRD for the face scan. AadhaarFaceRD is a background service with no icon to open — the gas app calls it. Follow the on-screen capture.
6. Step 6 — Save the final “eKYC complete” screen with its date. That is your proof if subsidy does not resume.

1. Visit your LPG distributor with your Aadhaar card and consumer number. The distributor completes fingerprint biometric verification on a point-of-sale device.
2. Some companies offer eKYC during home delivery — ask the delivery person when they bring your next cylinder. Confirm with your distributor that this option is live in your area.
3. Nobody can charge you for eKYC. If anyone demands money or an “agent” offers to do it for a fee, that is a red flag — the official process is free.

1. Open the myLPG portal and enter your 17-digit LPG ID to see your PAHAL status, subsidy credits and pending actions. If you do not know your LPG ID, the portal helps you find it from your registered mobile number.
2. Your subsidy chain needs three links: LPG ID linked to Aadhaar, Aadhaar linked to your bank account, and the NPCI mapper pointing your Aadhaar to the right bank. A break in any one of these stops the money even after eKYC. If the mapper points to a closed account, visit the bank branch to fix it.

1. Step 1 — Raise a complaint with your OMC: through the grievance option inside your gas app, or the complaint form on the company website (Indane, HP Gas, Bharat Gas). Note the complaint number and date.
2. Step 2 — Wait for the company's stated response window. If it passes without a fix, escalate.

1. Paying an agent for a free process. eKYC is free. No official charges a fee.
2. Installing eKYC apps from ads or APK links. Only the official store listings on the PMUY page are safe. Fake eKYC apps harvest Aadhaar details.
3. Treating a completed face scan as proof the record updated. Screenshot the final confirmation. If subsidy does not return within the next cycle, complain with that screenshot.
4. Ignoring the SMS because the deadline passed. The consequence is reversible — but only once you act.
5. Wrong bank in the NPCI mapper. eKYC cannot fix a mapper pointed at a closed account. Fix it at the bank.

The companies' notices address all domestic consumers, because eKYC validates the connection itself. The money effect is largest for Ujjwala households, whose ₹300 per refill subsidy now covers 4 cylinders a year. If your SMS says pending, complete it either way.
