Karnataka Information Commission — contacts and appeals

Karnataka named its Information Commission's home Mahiti Soudha — the building of information — and the Commission's own contact page is where every number on this page comes from. • Second appeals and complaints: to the Commission at Mahiti Soudha — online through kic.gov.in, or by post — within 90 days of the first-appeal order, or of the 45-day silence after your first appeal was filed.

Real example. Dr. Shrawan Kumar Pathak's first appeal against a municipal records refusal was rejected in a two-line order. Before drafting his second appeal he searched the Commission's decision bank for orders on the same Section 10 excuse, found two in his favour from other districts, cited both, and the Commission directed disclosure at the first hearing.

Commission offices are 10 to 5, and phone lines get busy on cause-list days. If your case is listed and you have not got a notice, or an order passed months ago is still undelivered, an RTI to the Commission's own Public Information Officer moves the file — the Commission is itself a public authority.
