e-Shram Helpline 14434 — Timings and Escalation
Reviewed on 25 August 2026 by Dr. Shrawan Kumar Pathak.
The e-Shram helpdesk runs on 14434, with a second line at 1800-889-6811, from 9 am to 6 pm every day — including Sundays. It handles UAN and registration problems for unorganised workers, and it is the right first call for anything connected to the e-Shram card. When a call ends with a complaint number but no solution, a ₹10 RTI to the Ministry of Labour and Employment usually finishes the job.
Quick Reply: Call 14434 or 1800-889-6811 between 9 am and 6 pm, any day of the week, for e-Shram UAN, registration and card problems. Keep the complaint number they give you. Insurance claims go to your bank under PMSBY, pension matters to maandhan.in. If nothing moves for weeks, file an RTI to the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The numbers that matter
- Helpdesk — 14434, toll-free from mobile and landline.
- Second line — 1800-889-6811.
- Timings — 9.00 am to 6.00 pm, daily including Sundays.
- Portal — eshram.gov.in.
- Run by — Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.
What the helpline can fix
- UAN problems — card not generated, wrong name, date of birth or mobile number on the UAN.
- Aadhaar link failures — the commonest block. If your Aadhaar itself holds an old mobile number, fix that at UIDAI first, then let e-Shram re-read the record.
- Occupation or skill details wrong — the operator can raise a correction request against your UAN.
- Card download and print problems — guidance on getting the e-Shram PDF again.
- Where a service actually sits — insurance and pension are separate systems; the operator can point you to the right one.
For the registration itself — documents, steps and common errors — see the step-by-step e-Shram card registration guide.
Insurance and pension — the right doors
- PMSBY accident cover — e-Shram workers are commonly enrolled in the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, which pays ₹2 lakh on accidental death or disability for a premium of ₹20 a year. Claims go to the bank that holds your account, with the claim form available at jansuraksha.gov.in. Collect the FIR and hospital papers early — the full guide is PMSBY and PMJJBY — how to apply and claim.
- Pension — contributory pension for unorganised workers and traders runs through the Maandhan portal at maandhan.in, where contribution and scheme details are maintained.
The helpline can look up your status on these, but the bank and the pension portal respectively are the offices that act.
When the helpline does not resolve it — RTI
Helplines log complaints; they do not always close them. An RTI application brings out the file noting, the officer's name and the actual reason — and most stuck cases move within 7 to 15 days of the PIO receiving it. e-Shram is run by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi — a public authority under the Right to Information Act, 2005. Fee ₹10; reply due in 30 days under Section 7(1).
1. Status of my complaint / application no. _____ dated _____ as on date. 2. Name and designation of the officer assigned to my file. 3. Reasons for delay beyond the committed timeline. 4. Copy of any noting or movement of my file in the past 30 days. 5. Likely date of resolution.
The AI RTI Drafter fills in the addressee and format, and the RTI Playbook explains the first-appeal step under Section 19(1) if day 30 passes silently.
Frequently asked questions
What are the e-Shram helpline 14434 timings?
9 am to 6 pm, every day — including Sundays, as published on eshram.gov.in.
Is 14434 toll-free?
Yes. Both 14434 and the alternate number 1800-889-6811 are free to call from mobile and landline.
What is the second e-Shram helpline number?
1800-889-6811. If one line is busy, the other usually connects.
My UAN shows the wrong mobile number — how do I fix it?
The UAN reads the mobile number from your Aadhaar. Update the mobile at an UIDAI centre or the mAadhaar app first, then call 14434 to have the UAN re-synced.
Whom do I contact for an e-Shram linked PMSBY claim?
The bank holding your account. PMSBY claims are settled through the bank where you are enrolled; the claim form and scheme details are on jansuraksha.gov.in.
The helpline gave a complaint number weeks ago — nothing since. What next?
Quote that complaint number in the five-question RTI above and send it to the CPIO, Ministry of Labour and Employment. The reply must reach you within 30 days.
To whom is the e-Shram RTI addressed?
The Central Public Information Officer, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi — for the portal and scheme. State labour department matters go to that state's PIO.
Does calling 14434 cost anything, and is registration paid?
Calling is free, and e-Shram registration on the portal is free. Nobody should pay an agent for a card that the government issues at no charge.
