The SSC GD 2026 recruitment moves from the computer-based examination to PET/PST, then detailed/review medical examination and document verification. SSC handles the CBE, merit and force allocation; CAPFs conduct the physical, medical and verification stages, with CRPF as the nodal force. The official 2026 recruitment map
The SSC notice dated 1 December 2025 covered Constable (GD) in BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles. It notified 25,487 tentative vacancies and Pay Level 3. Vacancy numbers were expressly tentative, so use SSC's current tentative/final vacancy notice when interpreting a cut-off or selection list.

Admission is provisional until the documents and eligibility claims are verified. A CBE admit card or PET call does not establish final eligibility.
CBE: marks, answer key and result
The 2026 CBE has 80 objective questions carrying two marks each across General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, and English/Hindi. The notice prescribes 0.25 negative mark for each wrong answer and says normalisation follows SSC's published procedure.
After the examination, SSC places a tentative answer key on its website. The 2026 notice allows online representations within the time shown in that notice, at ₹50 per challenged question. A letter, email or later RTI is not an answer-key objection. Save:
- your response sheet and tentative key;
- the question ID, option ID and session details;
- the official or primary authority supporting the challenge;
- payment and submission acknowledgement;

SSC says there is no re-evaluation or re-checking of scores. That does not prevent a candidate from seeking an existing record, but the RTI process cannot create a second marking exercise.
PET: the race is qualifying and has no appeal
For candidates other than the Ladakh Region, the 2026 notice prescribes:
- male: 5 km in 24 minutes;
- female: 1.6 km in 8½ minutes.

The notice states that there is no appeal against PET (Race). Report with the admission certificate, follow centre instructions and immediately record any administrative problem—wrong roll number, denied entry despite documents, timing equipment issue or identity mismatch—with the Presiding Officer. An administrative record complaint is different from an appeal against failing the race standard.
PST: use the same-day appeal or lose the route
The general height standard in the 2026 notice is 170 cm for male and 157 cm for female candidates. For male candidates, the general chest standard is 80 cm unexpanded with 5 cm minimum expansion. The notice contains important category, region and community relaxations; do not rely on a short social-media chart. Weight is assessed as proportionate to height and age under the medical standards.
Bring the precise certificate prescribed in the relevant annexure if claiming a relaxation. A certificate that merely describes residence or community may not be the prescribed proof.
If declared unqualified on height or chest, the notice says the candidate may appeal on the same day, through the Presiding Officer, to the Appellate Authority at that recruitment centre. The authority's decision is final under the recruitment notice. Ask for and preserve the measurement sheet/result and acknowledgement of the appeal. Do not leave the centre intending to email later.
DME, RME and document verification
The CAPF Medical Boards assess candidates under the MHA uniform recruitment-medical guidelines cited in the notice. If the DME result offers a review route, read the unfitness memo and follow its form, medical-certificate and time instructions immediately. Do not invent a universal RME deadline from a coaching website; the controlling notice, unfitness memo and current CAPF instructions decide it.
For DV, the 2026 notice lists documents including:
- matriculation/secondary certificate for age, name and qualification;
- domicile/permanent resident certificate for the State/UT claimed;
- valid NCC certificate, if claimed;
- category, ex-serviceman or serving-defence documents where applicable;
- the prescribed certificate for height/chest relaxation;
- other special-category documents specified in the notice.
The State/UT and district in the application matter because most force vacancies are filled State/UT-wise and some are earmarked for specified areas. The notice warns that a mismatch between the application and the domicile/PRC produced at DV can cancel candidature.

The 2026 notice says a candidate who scores above the cut-off at a stage but is not advanced for another reason must represent to the concerned SSC Regional Office within two months of result declaration or two weeks before the next stage, whichever is earlier. Treat that as a hard candidate-action clock; verify the current result notice too.

Do not say only “my marks are high, select me.” Identify the list, cut-off unit, category, sex, State/area, NCC treatment and exact discrepancy.

RTI does not stay the recruitment, extend a same-day appeal, re-run a race, re-measure height or direct medical fitness. File the prescribed appeal/representation first.
