Gruha Jyoti Status Check 2026 — Karnataka ESCOM

If you only have 2 minutes: open the Seva Sindhu Gruha Jyothi track page, pick your ESCOM, enter the account ID from the electricity bill, and read the status. Gruha Jyothi is the Government of Karnataka scheme that subsidises domestic electricity. The Energy Department page states that the Cabinet decided to provide free electricity up to 200 units per month for domestic consumption, and that the scheme was implemented from 1 July 2023. Yuva Kanaja describes it as free electricity up to 200 units for every residential household in the State.

It is not Gruha Lakshmi (a cash transfer for women) and not Yuva Nidhi. Those have separate Seva Sindhu counters. See Gruha Lakshmi status and Yuva Nidhi status.

• Who runs it: Energy Department, Government of Karnataka, through the electricity supply companies (ESCOMs) and registration on Seva Sindhu.
• 200 units: Confirmed on energy.karnataka.gov.in and yuvakanaja.karnataka.gov.in.
• Eligible-unit cap: The same Energy Department page also fixes eligible units by category. For installations with a full 2022-23 consumption year: average consumption + 10% per month. New or incomplete-year domestic installations, and Bhagya Jyothi / Kuteera Jyothi: 58 units. Amruta Jyothi SC/ST BPL: 83 units. Domestic installations using less than 48 units: 58 units from 1 February 2024. Confirm the units printed on your bill — do not assume a flat 200.
• Registration: The consumer must register the domestic installation on Seva Sindhu. Apply at sevasindhugs.karnataka.gov.in or at Grama One / Karnataka One / Bangalore One, as stated on Yuva Kanaja and CESC.
• D-link: If you shift house, D-link the old installation and register the new one on Seva Sindhu. The Energy Department says this facility is available from February 2024. CESC links the same de-register page.
• Sakala: Yuva Kanaja states the scheme does not come under Sakala.
• 2026 verification: BESCOM's July 2026 FAQ says the scheme is not being cancelled. Field verification by ESCOM staff ran from 1 July 2026 to 31 August 2026. Benefits continue during verification. Eligible units stay as in the existing Government Order. There is no fee.
• RTI: ESCOMs and the Energy Department are public authorities. File under RTI Act 2005 §6(1) to the PIO of your ESCOM. Reply is due in 30 days under §7(1). Silence is deemed refusal; file a first appeal under §19(1). Karnataka also hosts rtionline.karnataka.gov.in.

1. Open sevasindhu.karnataka.gov.in/StatucTrack/Track_Status (the official URL uses that spelling).
2. Confirm you are on karnataka.gov.in. Extra words before gov.in are phishing.
3. Pick your ESCOM from the dropdown: BESCOM, MESCOM, CESC, HESCOM, HRECS, GESCOM.

1. Type the electricity Account / Connection ID printed on the bill. The track page asks only for this ID after you pick the ESCOM.
2. Submit. A typical message is that the application is received and sent to ESCOM. That means Seva Sindhu has forwarded the file — it is not yet proof that this month's bill is subsidised.

1. Enrolment status and the subsidy on a given bill are two different things.
2. Download or collect the latest bill from your ESCOM.
3. Look for a Gruha Jyothi / government subsidy line and compare units billed with the eligible units on the Energy Department table.
4. BESCOM customers start from bescom.karnataka.gov.in. Other ESCOMs publish bill-view on their own sites.

Always re-check the live .gov.in URL before you type Aadhaar or an OTP.

Yuva Kanaja lists, for apply:

• Aadhaar
• Consumer ID / Account ID from any month's electricity bill
• Tenancy document if you are a tenant (rental / lease) or voter ID showing the premise address

BESCOM's July 2026 verification FAQ also mentions account number, Aadhaar, rental agreement, voter ID, photo, and optional ration / caste / PAN papers. Follow the form in front of you, not a WhatsApp list.

1. Recheck track status and the account ID spelling.
2. Compare this month's units with the eligible-unit cap, not only with 200.
3. Visit the local ESCOM subdivision with the bill, Aadhaar and the Seva Sindhu acknowledgement. Ask whether Gruha Jyothi is tagged on the billing account.
4. For a shift of house, complete D-link on the old installation and a fresh registration on the new one.
5. Yuva Kanaja and BESCOM publish electricity helpline 1912. Use it for supply complaints; for subsidy tagging, keep a written complaint number at the subdivision.
6. Then file RTI for the tagging date, eligible units and the name of the pending official.

File this under §6(1) to the Public Information Officer of your ESCOM (BESCOM / MESCOM / CESC / HESCOM / GESCOM). Enclose the bill and the Seva Sindhu screenshot. Fee is the amount in your state RTI fee table.

• The government does not charge an agent fee to “activate” Gruha Jyothi. BESCOM's FAQ says verification itself has no fee.
• Never share an OTP. Anyone who asks for it is not Seva Sindhu or the ESCOM.
• Do not mix this scheme with Gruha Lakshmi. A Lakshmi status page will not show your electricity subsidy.
• Commercial or mixed-use connections are not the domestic installations described on the Energy Department page. Correct the tariff classification on the bill before you argue subsidy.

Official pages describe free electricity up to 200 units a month for domestic consumption. The Energy Department also caps eligible units from your 2022-23 average plus 10 percent, or 58 / 83 units for named categories. Read the units on your bill.

The Energy Department does not say that one high-consumption month cancels enrolment. You should still see subsidy only up to the eligible units. Confirm the arithmetic on that month's bill at the ESCOM counter.

Yuva Kanaja asks for a tenancy document or voter ID for the premise. BESCOM's July 2026 FAQ says a tenant may submit the verification papers even if the bill is in the landlord's name. The account ID must still match the ESCOM record.

Yes. The same track page works with ESCOM name and account ID, wherever you enrolled.

Use the official D-link page, then register the new installation on Seva Sindhu. The Energy Department says this route has been available from February 2024.

No dedicated app is published on the official pages reviewed. Use Seva Sindhu in a mobile browser and your ESCOM's own bill portal.

Yuva Kanaja says no. Use the ESCOM complaint register and RTI, not a Sakala clock, for this subsidy.
