Warranty Repair Refused: Evidence, NCH and Consumer Complaint

Do not argue only at the counter. Ask for a written job sheet, diagnostic finding, estimated cost and the exact warranty exclusion relied on. Keep the invoice, warranty terms, serial number, photographs and all service records. Escalate to the manufacturer's grievance channel and give it a clear chance to inspect or repair. If the response is absent or unsupported, register the dispute with the National Consumer Helpline at 1915 or consumerhelpline.gov.in. For an unresolved deficiency in service, file a consumer complaint through e-Jagriti with the product value, evidence, parties and relief. A legal notice can organise the record but is not a magic requirement for every consumer complaint.

Warranty disputes turn on the written warranty, the actual defect and the stated exclusion. 'Physical damage' or 'liquid ingress' should be supported by an inspection finding, not merely spoken at the desk. Equally, a consumer should not conceal impact or third-party repair. A clear chronology is more persuasive than threats or unsupported compensation figures.

1. Obtain a dated job sheet that records the product condition and your complaint before leaving the device.
2. Ask the service centre to provide the rejection and technical reason in writing, including photographs or test result if it alleges damage.
3. Save the invoice, warranty booklet or online terms that applied on purchase date, serial number and earlier repair history.
4. Write to the brand's grievance officer or nodal channel with the job-sheet number and request repair, replacement or a reasoned rejection.
5. Register at NCH if the brand does not resolve it. Upload the short chronology and documents, not unrelated personal records.
6. If necessary, file on e-Jagriti and claim relief you can support: repair, replacement, refund where legally justified, actual loss and costs.

Use the service owner's written grievance route first and preserve its acknowledgement. Escalate only to the regulator, appellate authority, Commission or police route that applies to this issue. A telephone assurance is not a closure record. If a public authority holds the missing status, note, inspection report or reason, request that existing record precisely; RTI does not compel a desired service outcome.
