RTI fee in Andhra Pradesh — 2026 fee schedule

The quantum is set by G.O.Ms.No.454 GA (I&PR.II) Department, dated 13 October 2005, amended by G.O.Ms.No.530 and G.O.Ms.No.545 — the reference the commission's own “Procedure for Request” page points to. Below Poverty Line applicants are exempt from every fee on attaching a BPL certificate copy; that waiver is statutory under §7(5).

Two older pieces of information floating around are now wrong: the domain apsic.gov.in no longer resolves, and any Hyderabad-era address predates the commission's shift to Mangalagiri after the state's bifurcation.

The APIC procedure page restates the statutory clocks:

1. 30 days for the PIO's reply from the application date
2. 48 hours where the information concerns life or liberty
3. +5 days when the application reaches an Assistant PIO, who forwards it
4. 40 days where a third party must be heard
5. Silence past the deadline is a deemed refusal — the appeal clock starts on its own

• By post or in person: to the PIO of the public authority, in English, Hindi or Telugu. Reasons for asking are not required.
• Payment: ₹10 by Indian Postal Order, demand draft, court fee stamp or cash against receipt, as the public authority prescribes.

1. Keep the proof: the IPO counterfoil or receipt is your evidence if the PIO later says the fee never arrived.

2. Refuse flat “file charges” or “processing charges” beyond the schedule.
3. First appeal — free — to the appellate authority in the same public authority within 30 days.
4. Second appeal to APIC at Mangalagiri within 90 days; the helpline 0863-2387345 confirms what the registry needs.

Real example. Dr. Shrawan Kumar Pathak of Vijayawada sought the material-testing report of a municipal road. The office wanted ₹150 “for the file”. He filed the same application with a ₹10 IPO, paid ₹18 for nine pages, and the report showed the road had failed compaction tests two years running — the exact evidence his ward association needed.

APIC at Mangalagiri covers Andhra Pradesh public authorities — state departments, districts, municipalities, universities and APSRTC-class bodies. Telangana matters go to the Telangana Information Commission at Hyderabad. Central public authorities in either state — post offices, railways, income tax — answer to the Central Information Commission in Delhi, wherever they sit. Filing the second appeal at the wrong commission is the most common waste of the 90-day window.
