Aadhaar Status by SRN, URN or EID: Update and PVC

To check Aadhaar status, first identify what you requested: a new enrolment, an update to your details, or a printed PVC card. An SRN on a PVC receipt tracks that card order. It does not tell you whether a separate address update has been approved.

Quick answer: Open UIDAI's My Aadhaar services, choose the status service for your request, and use the reference on its acknowledgement. Keep update and PVC receipts separate. For an update pending beyond 90 days, contact UIDAI on 1947 with the reference and request date. Do not publish your Aadhaar number or OTP here.

Check Aadhaar status using the reference on your acknowledgement

Choose the right status check

  • A new Aadhaar enrolment. Reference to keep ready: Enrolment acknowledgement, including its identifier and date/time. Official route: UIDAI: Check Enrolment Status. What to check next: Whether the enrolment has been processed.
  • An online address or other supported update. Reference to keep ready: SRN or update reference shown on that request's receipt. Official route: myAadhaar: enrolment and update status or the update history after sign-in. What to check next: Processing, acceptance or the displayed rejection reason.
  • An update submitted at a centre. Reference to keep ready: The update acknowledgement, including URN/EID or the reference requested by the official service. Official route: UIDAI's status services. What to check next: The status of that particular update.
  • An Aadhaar PVC card. Reference to keep ready: The card-order SRN. Official route: UIDAI: PVC card status. What to check next: Printing/dispatch, then postal tracking once available.

UIDAI provides distinct update, enrolment and PVC services. Its online-services FAQ explains that SRNs are used for both PVC and update requests. Match the reference to its receipt rather than choosing a tracker just because both say SRN.

How to check Aadhaar update status with an SRN

  1. Find the acknowledgement PDF, invoice or SMS for the update, not a later PVC order. Record its date and the requested change.
  2. Start from the official UIDAI services page. Follow the update-status option. If it opens a sign-in page, complete the steps on the government site yourself.
  3. Enter the reference exactly as that service requests. Copy it from the receipt so similar-looking characters are not mistyped.
  4. Read the complete result. Save a dated screenshot and any rejection explanation. An acknowledgement proves submission, not approval.
  5. If approved, use the official Aadhaar download service to check the resulting record. If rejected, follow the stated correction requirement before paying for another request.

How to track an Aadhaar PVC card

Use the PVC order receipt and the PVC status service linked from UIDAI. When the card is dispatched, use the postal tracking reference supplied for that delivery. UIDAI's PVC-card FAQ distinguishes SRN tracking before dispatch from postal tracking afterwards.

If a card arrives with old details, compare the dates of the update approval and card order. Keep both receipts when asking UIDAI about the problem. For ordering and delivery steps, use the Aadhaar PVC card guide.

Fees checked on 8 September 2026: UIDAI lists ₹75 for a PVC card and ₹75 for the address-update service on its current services page. e-Aadhaar download is free. These are different services. A document-update fee waiver should not be assumed to cover every change or a PVC order.

If the reference is invalid or the status is missing

  • Invalid SRN or no matching request. What to do: Compare the service, reference and date with the original receipt. Check for spaces or transcription errors.
  • Payment debited but no acknowledgement. What to do: Keep the payment reference and bank entry. Use UIDAI's payment/acknowledgement support guidance before paying again.
  • Old request displayed. What to do: Check which acknowledgement you entered and whether there is a more recent request in your account history.
  • Rejected. What to do: Save the exact reason and identify the required correction. Use the Aadhaar rejection guide.
  • Website unavailable. What to do: Return through UIDAI's official services page later or call 1947. Do not enter personal details into a lookalike tracker.

This is a troubleshooting checklist, not a promise that retrying will change an application decision.

Update pending beyond 90 days

UIDAI says an Aadhaar update can take up to 90 days and directs people with older pending requests to its support service. The earlier version of this page incorrectly presented 30 days as a universal update deadline. See UIDAI's Aadhaar FAQ.

Call 1947 with the receipt available. Ask for a complaint reference and record it alongside the update reference. Keep a simple log:

  • Fill from your receipt. Reference type: SRN / URN / EID as applicable. Last status and date checked: Copy the exact wording. Support reference: Add after contacting UIDAI. Next action: Record the instruction received.

Example: two receipts, two different questions

Illustrative example, not a reported case: A person has an address-update receipt and a separate PVC-card receipt. The PVC tracker says dispatched. That answers the delivery question only. They must check the update receipt separately to establish whether the new address was accepted. Keeping both references in a two-row note avoids treating dispatch as update approval.

Frequently asked questions

Can I check Aadhaar status using only a mobile number?

A mobile number is not a substitute for the request reference. Use UIDAI's recovery options if you lost the acknowledgement. Its FAQ lists online EID/UID retrieval with the registered mobile, an enrolment-centre visit, or 1947 as recovery routes.

Are SRN and Aadhaar number the same?

No. An SRN identifies a service request. Use the reference type asked for by the selected official service. Do not paste your Aadhaar number into a field asking for an SRN.

Does checking PVC status show whether my address changed?

Treat them as separate requests. Check the update result and the card-order result against their respective acknowledgements.

Can I download Aadhaar just by entering an SRN here?

Should I enrol again if my Aadhaar has not arrived?

Check the existing enrolment first. UIDAI warns that another enrolment will be rejected if Aadhaar was already generated from the first one. Use its recovery options rather than repeatedly enrolling.

Can someone guarantee faster processing for a fee?

UIDAI states that the update process cannot be altered to expedite a request. Use official support and keep the acknowledgement. Do not share an OTP with someone offering a shortcut.
