Aadhaar update status check EID UIDAI

Aadhaar update status check with EID on UIDAI myAadhaar - RTI Wiki

Aadhaar update status is the UIDAI record of an enrolment or change request. Track it on myAadhaar with the EID, URN, or SRN on your acknowledgement slip. Checking status is free; call 1947 if the slip is lost.

EID, URN and SRN track flow

UIDAI does not finish enrolment or an update at the counter. The packet goes for verification. The status check tells you whether the number is generated, the update is done, or the request is rejected.

An enrolment request is a first Aadhaar. An update request changes details on a number you already hold. How to enrol is on how to apply for Aadhaar.

You track with one reference from the acknowledgement slip.

  • EID (Enrolment ID) is the enrolment number plus date and time, printed on the slip at an enrolment or update centre.
  • URN (Update Request Number) is given when you apply for an update through the online portal.
  • SRN (Service Request Number) is given for certain service requests through UIDAI channels.

Use exactly the number on the slip. Do not guess missing digits.

① Find EID, URN or SRN on the acknowledgement slip → ② Open myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in Check Enrolment and Update Status → ③ Type the reference and captcha → ④ Read generated, updated, under process, QC hold, or rejected → ⑤ Download e-Aadhaar if ready, or call 1947 / RTI the UIDAI RO if stuck

Verb-led steps

  1. Open myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/CheckAadhaarStatus. Type the address yourself.
  2. Choose Check Enrolment and Update Status.
  3. Enter the EID, URN, or SRN exactly as printed.
  4. Enter the captcha and submit.
  5. Read the live label. Screenshot it.
  6. If generated or updated, download e-Aadhaar from myAadhaar.

The official mAadhaar / Aadhaar App also has a track-request option. Download only from the official app store listing.

QC hold and what status means

UIDAI runs a quality check on photo, fingerprints, and iris. A request can sit on QC hold if the capture fails those rules. That is a data-quality hold, not a demand that you pay an agent.

Call 1947 with the EID if the screen stays on processing or QC. Ask whether a re-enrolment or a fresh update is needed. Do not pay a cafe to “clear QC”.

Status shown What it means
Under processing or similar UIDAI is still verifying the packet
QC hold or quality check Photo or biometrics failed quality rules. Call 1947 with the EID
Aadhaar generated or updated Work is done. Download e-Aadhaar
Rejected The request was not approved. Read the reason, then re-apply

Exact wording can vary. Follow the screen. A short wait after a centre visit is normal. A packet that does not move is not normal. Then use 1947, the complaint page, and RTI.

Details you may need

Detail Why you need it
EID, URN or SRN The lookup key on myAadhaar
Acknowledgement slip Prints the reference and the request date
Registered mobile OTP if the flow asks for it
Captcha Confirms a person is making the request

If you lost the slip, call 1947. You may also retrieve a lost EID through official myAadhaar retrieve options. Never share Aadhaar OTP with a private recovery agent.

Aadhaar update fee reminder

Checking status is always free. Enrolment is free. Update charges are different. These figures come from UIDAI's published Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Charges, as of August 2026.

Service Charge Note
First Aadhaar enrolment Free In person at a centre. Not fully online
Biometric update, first time, age 5 to 7 Free Mandatory biometric update window
Biometric update, first or second time, age 15 to 17 Free Mandatory biometric update window
Biometric update in other cases ₹125 Age 7 to 15: free till 30.9.2026
Demographic update with a biometric update Free Name, gender, date of birth, address, mobile, email
Demographic update done separately ₹75 Email via the Aadhaar App is free till 31.12.2026

Document update on myAadhaar is listed as free till 14.06.2027. At a centre it is ₹75. PVC card is a separate paid product. Fee is shown at UIDAI checkout.

UIDAI treats a mandatory biometric update as a stand-alone visit. Ask the operator before you combine services. A centre that charges for first enrolment is not following UIDAI's table. Call 1947.

Name on Aadhaar should match PAN if you will link them. A mismatch blocks KYC. See PAN-Aadhaar name mismatch KYC fix and how to apply for PAN card.

myAadhaar 1947 and the app

Use only UIDAI hosts.

Fake “aadhaar status” sites copy the UIDAI look. They steal OTP. Type the address. Do not tap a search ad.

If the update is rejected, read the reason on the portal or from 1947. Common genuine causes include an unclear document, a proof not in the applicant's name, and poor biometric quality. Fix the listed gap. Submit a fresh request. UIDAI publishes the accepted-document list. Follow that list, not a cafe printout.

Voter ID is a separate identity document. Status for that is not myAadhaar. See how to apply for voter ID.

RTI to the UIDAI Regional Office

UIDAI is a public authority under the Right to Information Act, 2005. File under s.6(1) to the Public Information Officer of the UIDAI Regional Office that covers your state, or the CPIO named on uidai.gov.in RTI. The PIO must reply in 30 days under s.7(1). Silence or a vague reply goes to first appeal under s.19(1).

Call 1947 and file the myAadhaar complaint first. RTI is for the packet log, the QC or rejection reason on record, and the pending officer. It is not a paid “speed-up”.

1. Current status of Aadhaar enrolment or update request [EID / URN / SRN] dated [date], as on the date of this reply.
2. Name and designation of the official or process owner for this reference, and from which date it is pending.
3. If on QC hold: the quality-check remark for photo, fingerprint or iris, and whether a fresh capture is required.
4. If rejected: copy of the rejection reason and the document or biometric still treated as outstanding.
5. Action taken on UIDAI helpline or myAadhaar complaint [number] dated [date].

Draft with the AI RTI Drafter. Appeal with the First Appeal Builder. Method: The RTI Playbook.

Illustrative scenario. An update stays “under processing” far longer than a simple address change should. The resident screenshots myAadhaar, calls 1947 with the URN, files a complaint, then RTI the Regional Office PIO for the QC remark and the last action date. That is a file-movement request, not a demand to force an update.

Safety warnings

  • Checking status is free. UIDAI never charges to track an EID or URN.
  • Never share OTP. No genuine UIDAI officer asks for OTP by phone or WhatsApp.
  • Use only myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and uidai.gov.in.
  • Do not pay agents who promise to speed up status. They cannot influence UIDAI processing.
  • Enrolment is free. Biometric update is ₹125 except the free age bands above.

Common mistakes

  • Typing EID without the date-time portion printed on the slip.
  • Tracking on a lookalike site from a search ad.
  • Treating QC hold as a cue to pay a broker.
  • Filing RTI to a state CSC or a private operator instead of the UIDAI Regional Office PIO.
  • Starting a second enrolment because the first EID is still in process.
