ADIP Scheme Disability Aids: Check Approval Before Applying
Last reviewed: 13 August 2026.
Status alert: The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities says the revised ADIP scheme applied from 26 September 2024 and was approved for continuation only up to 31 March 2026. As of this review on 13 August 2026, the Department's live ADIP page still shows that end date and does not display a later continuation order. Check the official page or implementing agency for a new sanction before relying on eligibility or promising a free device.
What ADIP is designed to do
The Scheme of Assistance to Persons with Disabilities for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances supports provision of certified assistive devices intended to improve independent functioning and reduce the effects of disability. The Department releases grant-in-aid to implementing agencies such as ALIMCO, National Institutes, Composite Regional Centres, District Disability Rehabilitation Centres, state corporations and eligible organisations.
The scheme can cover categories of aids and appliances in the notified list; it is not an automatic cash reimbursement for any device bought privately.
Before submitting personal data
- Open the DEPwD ADIP page and look for a continuation order after 31 March 2026.
- Confirm that the ARJUN portal is accepting beneficiary applications for the relevant period.
- Contact the listed implementing agency or nearest ALIMCO/rehabilitation centre to confirm assessment and device availability.
- Read the currently operative eligibility, income, disability documentation and replacement-period rules from the official order.
- Do not pay a middleman or share an OTP to obtain a camp token.
If no later approval is published, ask the agency whether the application is being taken under a new sanction, a state programme or another scheme. Get the scheme name in writing.
Prepare a verifiable file
| Item | Check |
|---|---|
| Disability certificate/UDID | Valid details and category; use the official UDID system where required |
| Identity details | Name and date of birth match the application |
| Income evidence | Use the authority and period required by the current guideline |
| Clinical or functional assessment | From the competent professional or camp specified by the agency |
| Existing device history | Date and source of any earlier device, where replacement rules apply |
| Contact and acknowledgement | Mobile/email controlled by the applicant; save application number |
Use the income-certificate checklist for state documentation problems. If the certificate is rejected, see the recovery route.
Application path when the scheme is confirmed active
Register only through the official ARJUN portal or an authorised implementing agency. Select the correct agency and device category, upload readable records and save the acknowledgement. An assessment may be needed before a device is recommended, fitted or distributed.
DEPwD's ARJUN user material says beneficiaries can register online and choose an appropriate implementing agency. The official FAQ also points users to ALIMCO centres and provides contact information, but applicants should re-check the live portal because contact details can change.
When nothing moves
Ask the implementing agency for the recorded status, deficiency, assessment date and sanction under which the application is processed. A grievance can go to the agency and DEPwD. A narrow RTI may seek the applicable continuation order, file status, deficiency note, allocation or action taken from the relevant public authority.
RTI cannot create a scheme continuation, guarantee stock or substitute for a clinical assessment. Avoid publishing a beneficiary's disability records.

The Department page reviewed on 13 August 2026 shows approval only up to that date. Check for a later official order before applying or publishing eligibility claims.

Do not assume so. The scheme works through approved devices, assessment and implementing agencies under its current guideline.
Can an NGO charge for guaranteed selection?
No intermediary can guarantee a government sanction. Verify the agency and payment demand with DEPwD or ALIMCO.
