Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 New Connection and Subsidy Status 2026

To check your Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 status in 2026, use the official portals. Track a new LPG connection application at your gas company, such as Indane, Bharat Gas or HP Gas. Check your LPG subsidy, the PAHAL cashback to your bank, at your gas company portal or at the official LPG portal mylpg.in. The PMUY portal pmuy.gov.in is where you apply, not where the subsidy is paid.

This page explains the two different status checks, the details you need, and what to do if your subsidy is not received or your application is stuck.

If you are short on time: jump to How to check your Ujjwala status. Use only official portals. Never pay extra for a free connection and never share your OTP.

Use only official PMUY, LPG distributor or oil company portals to check connection or subsidy status.

What is Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 and what do beneficiaries get?

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) 2.0 gives a free LPG connection to women from poor households. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas runs it through the oil marketing companies — Indian Oil (Indane), Bharat Petroleum (Bharat Gas) and Hindustan Petroleum (HP Gas). Under Ujjwala 2.0, the connection is deposit free, and the first refill and the stove are also free, so a beneficiary makes no payment for the connection, the first refill or the stove (Press Information Bureau, PRID 2154117, 8 August 2025 — pib.gov.in).

PMUY beneficiaries also get a targeted LPG subsidy. For the financial year 2025 to 2026, the government approved a subsidy of ₹300 per 14.2 kg cylinder for up to 9 refills in the year (PIB, PRID 2154117). Confirm the current rate and refill cap on the official source, as the government revises it.

Key benefits at a glance:

Benefit What it means Who pays
Deposit-free connection No security deposit for the cylinder and regulator Government + oil companies
First refill free First 14.2 kg cylinder supplied at no cost Government
Free stove (hotplate) A cooking stove is provided with the connection Government
Targeted subsidy (PAHAL) ₹300 per cylinder (FY 2025–26), up to 9 refills/year, credited to bank Government via DBT

The scheme has completed over 10 crore (100 million) LPG connections since its original launch in May 2016 (pmuy.gov.in). Ujjwala 2.0 began on 1 October 2021 with a target of 1 crore additional connections, later expanded.

For a broader overview of the scheme's structure and history, see our guide: Ujjwala Yojana explained. For the full scheme directory, visit all government schemes on RTI Wiki.

New connection status vs subsidy status — what is the difference?

These are two different checks. Knowing the difference saves time.

So the connection check lives with the gas company, and the subsidy check lives at the gas company or mylpg.in, not on the PMUY application portal.

Common confusion: Many beneficiaries try to check the subsidy status on pmuy.gov.in. The PMUY portal is the application portal — it does not show subsidy credits. The subsidy is tracked at your gas company portal or mylpg.in.

For step-by-step guidance on both types of status checks, see our detailed guide: LPG subsidy status check guide.

How to check your Ujjwala status — step by step

A. New LPG connection application status

  1. Note which gas company you applied to: Indane, Bharat Gas or HP Gas.
  2. Open that company portal. For Bharat Gas, the official status page asks for your Request ID and Date of Birth, then sends an OTP to your mobile.
  3. Enter the details and the OTP to see your application status.
  4. For Indane, log in at cx.indianoil.in. For HP Gas, use myhpgas.in.

Confirm the exact field names on each gas company portal, as they update their pages.

B. LPG subsidy (PAHAL) status

  1. Open the official LPG portal mylpg.in, or your gas company portal.
  2. Choose your gas company.
  3. Use the option to view your subsidy or cashback history.
  4. You usually need your LPG ID or consumer number and your registered mobile number.

Confirm the exact subsidy check option and the ID format on mylpg.in or your gas company portal before relying on it.

Status check process summary

What you want to check Where to check What you need How long it takes
New connection status Gas company portal (Indane / Bharat Gas / HP Gas) Request ID + Date of Birth + OTP on registered mobile 2–5 minutes
LPG subsidy (PAHAL) credit mylpg.in or gas company portal LPG ID / consumer number + registered mobile 2–5 minutes
Subsidy in bank account Bank passbook, UPI app, or net banking Bank account number / Aadhaar-linked account Instant (check statement)
PMUY application submission pmuy.gov.in (application portal only) Mobile number + OTP 2–3 minutes
Complaint status mopnge-seva.in or gas company grievance portal Complaint / reference number 1–2 minutes

Quick tip: If you applied for a new connection and cannot find your Request ID, check the SMS or email confirmation you received when you submitted the application. Your distributor can also look it up using your registered mobile number.

For more details on new gas connection status across companies, see: new LPG gas connection status check 2026.

What details do you need before checking?

If you are unsure whether your bank account is properly linked to Aadhaar for DBT payments, check our guide: check if your bank account is DBT-linked. For common Aadhaar seeding failures that block LPG subsidies, see fix Aadhaar seeding for LPG, ration and pension.

Who is eligible for Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 in 2026?

Per the official PMUY portal (pmuy.gov.in), to apply for an Ujjwala 2.0 connection:

The portal lists eligible groups such as SC households, ST households, PMAY (Gramin), Most Backward Classes, Antyodaya Anna Yojana, tea and ex tea garden tribes, forest dwellers, people on islands and river islands, and SECC households (pmuy.gov.in).

Eligibility category Who qualifies
Adult woman Any woman aged 18+ from an eligible household
No existing LPG No LPG connection (from any OMC) in the household
SC/ST households Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families
PMAY-Gramin beneficiaries Families allotted housing under PMAY Gramin
Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) Families holding AAY ration cards
MBC / SECC households Most Backward Classes and SECC-listed deprived households
Tea / ex-tea garden tribes Workers in tea gardens and their families
Forest dwellers / islanders Forest dwellers, residents of islands and river islands

If your application was rejected on eligibility grounds and you believe it was wrongful, see application rejection recovery hub or use our RTI for Ujjwala connection guide.

What documents do you need for a Ujjwala connection?

The official portal lists these for a new connection:

(Source: pmuy.gov.in). Confirm the current list on the official portal before you apply.

For the full document checklist with formats and download links, see: documents required for LPG connection.

Why is your Ujjwala subsidy not credited to your bank?

The PAHAL subsidy is paid to your bank account, so a missing subsidy is often a bank or seeding issue. Common reasons:

Likely cause How to fix it
Aadhaar not linked to bank account Visit your bank to link Aadhaar, or check status at DBT linkage checker
Bank account inactive or closed Reactivate the account or update your bank details with the gas company
Aadhaar not linked to LPG ID Visit your distributor or use mylpg.in to link Aadhaar to your consumer number
KYC/e-KYC not completed Complete e-KYC at the distributor or through the gas company portal
Wrong bank account in records Submit a bank detail correction form to your distributor
Subsidy credited but not visible Check your bank statement — the credit may show as “DBTL” or “PAHAL”

Steps to resolve:

  1. Check your bank passbook or statement for the credit, as it goes straight to the bank, not to the gas company.
  2. Confirm your bank account is linked to Aadhaar and active. See check if your bank account is DBT linked.
  3. View your subsidy history on mylpg.in or your gas company portal.
  4. If it still does not show, raise a grievance through the channels below, or use the official PAHAL grievance form.

For DBT money not credited across schemes, see DBT money not credited — fix guide. For e-KYC failures, see DBT e-KYC failed — fix guide.

Never pay anyone to “fix” your subsidy. PAHAL subsidy processing is free. If someone demands money to release your subsidy, report them immediately to the toll-free helpline 1800-233-3555 or file a complaint on mopnge-seva.in.

What to do if your application is pending or rejected?

  1. For a pending new connection, check the status at your gas company and contact your distributor for the next step.
  2. For a rejected application, ask the distributor for the exact reason and the missing document.
  3. Fix the gap and reapply, or use the grievance and RTI routes below.
  4. If you are unsure why a decision was taken, see our application rejected recovery hub.

For scheme-specific rejection recovery, see PMAY rejection recovery as a parallel example. The CPGRAMS complaint guide walks you through filing a central government grievance.

What if a distributor asks for extra payment?

Under Ujjwala 2.0, a beneficiary is not required to pay for the connection, the first refill or the stove, as the government and the oil companies bear the cost (PIB, PRID 2154117 — pib.gov.in).

So if a distributor or agent demands extra money for a free connection or first refill:

  1. Do not pay, and do not share your OTP.
  2. Note the date, the person and the amount asked.
  3. Report it to the gas company toll free helpline and through the official grievance system below.

For LPG overcharging complaints, see our guide: LPG overcharge and extra delivery charge complaint. For broader PNG/LPG disputes, see PNG/LPG surrender complaint (PNGRB).

Can you use RTI to fix LPG delays and subsidy not credited?

If the helpline and the gas company do not give you a clear answer, the Right to Information Act, 2005 lets you ask in writing. LPG distribution runs through public sector oil companies, which are public authorities for RTI. You can file an RTI with the Public Information Officer of the concerned oil company.

You can ask for:

A simple RTI request looks like this.

To,
The Public Information Officer,
[Indian Oil / Bharat Petroleum / Hindustan Petroleum, your region]

Subject: Information under the RTI Act, 2005 about my LPG connection and subsidy

Under Section 6(1) of the RTI Act, 2005, please provide:
1. The status and file movement of my new connection application/Request ID [your ID].
2. The reason for delay or rejection of my application, with the rule relied on.
3. The dates and amount of subsidy/PAHAL transfers credited against my LPG ID [your ID].
4. The action taken on my complaint dated [date] against distributor [name].

I am ready to pay the prescribed fee under Section 7. Please reply within 30 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check my Ujjwala 2.0 new connection status?

Check it at the gas company you applied to. For Bharat Gas, the official status page asks for your Request ID and Date of Birth, then sends an OTP. For Indane, log in at cx.indianoil.in, and for HP Gas use myhpgas.in. The PMUY portal is for applying, not for tracking the connection. For a detailed walkthrough, see Ujjwala Yojana status check.

How do I check my LPG subsidy status under Ujjwala?

The subsidy is paid by PAHAL straight to your bank, so first check your bank passbook. To see your subsidy history, use the official LPG portal mylpg.in or your gas company portal, with your LPG ID or consumer number and registered mobile. The PMUY application portal does not show subsidy transfers. For step-by-step instructions, see LPG subsidy status guide or LPG subsidy status check 2026.

Why is my Ujjwala subsidy not credited to my bank?

A common reason is that the bank account is not linked to Aadhaar or is inactive, since PAHAL pays to the bank. Confirm your account is DBT linked, check your statement for the credit, and view your subsidy history on mylpg.in or your gas company portal. If it still does not show, raise a grievance through the official channels. See DBT money not credited fix and Aadhaar seeding fix guide.

Is the Ujjwala connection really free in 2026?

Under Ujjwala 2.0, the connection is deposit free, and the first refill and the stove are free, so a beneficiary makes no payment for these (PIB, PRID 2154117 — pib.gov.in). If anyone demands extra money for a free connection or first refill, do not pay and report it through the official helpline and grievance system. See also LPG overcharge complaint guide.

What is the LPG emergency number if I smell gas?

Call the LPG Emergency Helpline 1906 at once, and contact your distributor. Stop using the cylinder and follow the safety steps your distributor advises. This page does not give gas handling advice, so always rely on the official emergency helpline and your distributor for any safety issue.

Can I apply for an Ujjwala connection online?

Yes. Open pmuy.gov.in/ujjwala2 and choose your gas company, Indane, Bharat Gas or HP Gas, or apply at the distributor. The applicant must be a woman aged 18 or above, with no other LPG connection in the household, from an eligible poor household with a deprivation declaration. For the full document checklist, see documents for LPG connection.

What is the PMUY refill subsidy amount in 2025–26?

For FY 2025–26, the government approved a targeted subsidy of ₹300 per 14.2 kg cylinder for up to 9 refills in the year for PMUY beneficiaries (PIB, PRID 2154117 — pib.gov.in). The rate is revised periodically, so confirm the current amount on pmuy.gov.in or mopng.gov.in.

How long does it take to get an Ujjwala connection after applying?

Once your application is submitted on pmuy.gov.in and your documents are verified, the distributor typically issues the connection within 7 to 15 working days, depending on your location and document completeness. If it takes longer, check the status at your gas company portal and follow up with the distributor. If the distributor is unresponsive, file a grievance on mopnge-seva.in or use RTI — see RTI for Ujjwala connection.

Can I transfer my Ujjwala connection to another city?

Yes. LPG connections are portable across India. You can transfer your connection to a new distributor in another city by submitting a transfer request at your current distributor or through your gas company portal. The PMUY subsidy and free-refill benefits continue at the new location as long as you remain an eligible beneficiary. For more on connection transfers and portability, see new LPG connection status guide.

Can I file an RTI for Ujjwala subsidy not received?

Yes. Oil marketing companies (IOCL, BPCL, HPCL) are public authorities under the RTI Act. You can file an RTI with the PIO of the concerned company asking for the status of your subsidy transfers and the reason for non-credit. For a ready-to-use template, see RTI for LPG PAHAL subsidy not credited or RTI for LPG subsidy.

What if my Ujjwala application is rejected — can I appeal?

Yes. Ask your distributor for the rejection reason in writing. If the reason is incorrect or unclear, you can reapply with corrected documents, file a grievance on mopnge-seva.in, or file an RTI to get the file details. See our application rejection recovery hub for step-by-step guidance across schemes.
