Bihar's Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana supports girl children from birth through graduation with cash installments paid by direct bank transfer. If you applied months ago and the money has not arrived, this guide walks you through the status-check process and what to do if something looks wrong.

Before opening the portal, confirm that your application meets the core conditions. An ineligible application will show as rejected, and understanding why helps you decide whether to appeal or re-apply.

For the graduation-level benefit (Rs 50,000):

• You must have passed a bachelor's degree (snatak) from a Bihar government-recognised university or degree college
• You must be unmarried at the time of graduation
• Maximum two daughters per family can receive this benefit

For the inter-level benefit (Rs 25,000):

• You must have passed Class 12 (Intermediate / +2) from BSEB in the relevant academic year
• You must be unmarried at the time of passing
• Only two daughters per family are covered
• Applications are accepted only while the inter-year portal registration is open

Early installments (birth to Class 10): Smaller amounts at birth, immunisation, and school enrolment milestones are channelled through the e-Kalyan portal at ekalyan.bih.nic.in, not Medhasoft.

The graduation-level scheme runs on the Medhasoft portal under the name Mukhyamantri Kanya (Snatak) Protsahan Yojana.

Go to medhasoft.bihar.gov.in and navigate to Application Status under the Student menu. Use Chrome or Firefox; some government portals do not render correctly in other browsers.

A dropdown lists all recognised universities in Bihar - B N Mandal University Madhepura, Magadh University, Patna University, and others. Select your university exactly as it appears. If your institution is not listed, contact your university's examination office, as the college may not have been mapped.

Type your university registration number exactly as it appears on your mark sheet or admit card. A single digit mismatch will return no results.

Click the submit button. The portal sends an OTP to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP within the validity window. Your application details and current status will appear on screen.

The inter-level component runs through a separate year-specific portal on Medhasoft. Open medhasoft.bihar.gov.in, select the inter-year portal for your BSEB passing year, then from the Student menu open Application Status. Enter your BSEB registration number and date of birth (as per Class 10 marksheet), click get status, and enter the OTP. The portal shows individual verification results for name, Aadhaar, bank account, residential status, and father's name.

If the final status shows “waiting for approval by university” or college, your file is still under institutional review. Contact your college's MKUY nodal officer or scholarship coordinator.

The portal's own notice highlights the most frequent problems:

• Aadhaar not seeded to bank account - the single most common reason a payment never arrives. Seeding means your Aadhaar is linked to your account for DBT at the bank's end. • Name mismatch - the name on Aadhaar must match university records and the portal application exactly; even a minor spelling difference causes a verification failure
• Wrong registration number - a course roll number or exam roll number instead of the university registration number will produce no results or a mismatch
• Unmarried status not verifiable - rejections occur when the officer cannot confirm unmarried status from the submitted documents
• Out-of-window application - each portal cycle covers a specific graduation or passing year; applications outside that window are not accepted
• College not mapped - if your college has not been linked to the portal by the university, the application may remain stuck at verification

If your status shows “payment transferred” but the money has not appeared:

1. Confirm the bank account number and Aadhaar on the portal are correct
2. Ask your bank whether your account is Aadhaar-seeded for DBT (not just Aadhaar-linked - these are different)
3. If seeding is correct and money is still missing after 10 to 15 working days, write to [email protected] (graduation portal) with your university name, registration number, and application reference
4. Check whether payment went to an older account previously linked to your Aadhaar; update the seeding at the bank if needed

Keep these ready when checking status online or visiting an office:

1. Aadhaar card (original and photocopy)
2. University or college registration certificate or mark sheet
3. Bank passbook with account number and IFSC code
4. BSEB Class 10 marksheet (date of birth verification for inter applications)
5. Graduation or inter marksheet or provisional certificate

If your Aadhaar details have an error, correct them first using the Aadhaar status and update guide - Aadhaar mismatches are a leading cause of stuck applications.

Your college must upload your records to the portal before your name appears. First check with your college's exam section or the MKUY nodal officer whether your data has been submitted. If it has, contact the university registrar with your registration number. Do not apply separately until you confirm the source of the gap.

You cannot receive the OTP online if the registered number is inactive. The portal does not publish a fixed processing timeline. After approval, the state treasury releases payments in batches. In practice, the gap between approval and bank credit can range from a few weeks to a few months. Monitor your status regularly and check your bank passbook.
