Step-by-step

  1. Confirm with your school, college or university whether APAAR / ABC ID is required for your course.
  2. Use the official Academic Bank of Credits, DigiLocker or institution-provided route.
  3. Match your name, date of birth, gender and mobile details with school and identity records.
  4. Download or note the ID only after checking spelling and institution mapping.
  5. If details are wrong, ask the institution to correct the source record before creating duplicate IDs.

Details and proof to keep

  • student enrolment number
  • institution notice
  • DigiLocker login
  • ABC or APAAR acknowledgement
  • correction request

Red flags and cautions

  • Do not share Aadhaar OTP with agents.
  • Do not create duplicate academic IDs for the same student.
  • Avoid unofficial forms collecting student identity data.

If the matter is stuck

  1. Raise a written complaint on the official portal, app, helpdesk, school, office, bank, distributor or RTO route that controls the record.
  2. Save the ticket number, date and reply.
  3. Ask for a written reason if the status is delayed, rejected, hidden or inconsistent.
  4. Where a public authority holds the record, RTI can ask for file status, action taken, reasons recorded, officer name/designation and copies of non-exempt records.
