How to file an RTI for your government job result

One-line answer: If your sarkari exam result is delayed, your scorecard is missing details, or you've been declared “not selected” without explanation — file an RTI to the conducting body's PIO. Plain paper, ₹10, 30-day reply.

What to ask

  • Your section-wise marks with cut-off applied to your category.
  • Model answer key with objection-rejection record.
  • Marking scheme for descriptive papers.
  • Reasons for delay if applicable.

Where to file

  • UPSC: upsc.gov.in → “RTI”
  • SSC: ssc.nic.in → “RTI”
  • IBPS: ibps.in → “RTI”
  • State PSC: each PSC's website
  • Central portal: rtionline.gov.in

If no reply by Day 31

File a First Appeal under §19(1) — free at central level.

Why it matters

~4–6% of contested cases see actual mark corrections through RTI. The rest get useful information. Most candidates who file once, file again.
