+===== Who is eligible (and who is excluded) in 2026 =====
+  * **Eligible:** Any farmer family (husband + wife + minor children) that owns **cultivable agricultural land** in India, with the land record in the family's name. There is **no upper limit on land size** since February 2019 — the 2-hectare cap was removed.
+  * **Excluded** (per the official FAQ + Department of Agriculture clarifications): Constitutional post-holders (MP/MLA/MLC/Mayor/ZP Chair), serving or retired Group A/B central or state govt employees, professionals like CA/Doctor/Engineer/Lawyer/Architect actively practising, anyone who paid income tax in the last assessment year, and anyone receiving a pension of ₹10,000/month or more (excluding multi-tasking staff/Group D pensioners).
+  * **Not eligible if your name is not in the land record.** Tenant farmers, sharecroppers, and "as-on-paper" cultivators without titled ownership are not eligible. +===== Common mistakes to avoid =====
+  * **Account not Aadhaar-seeded.** Your account holding the PM-KISAN amount must be Aadhaar-linked at the bank end (NPCI mapping). Even if e-KYC says "complete" on pmkisan.gov.in, the bank-side seeding is separate. Walk into your branch, fill the Aadhaar seeding form, get a receipt.
+  * **Two accounts.** If you opened a new account in the same bank, the old (seeded) account may still be the destination. Update at the bank.
+  * **Land in joint name.** PM-KISAN treats the **family** as one beneficiary unit (1 ₹6,000/year per family). If land is jointly held, only one family member can claim. Filing twice triggers "Duplicate Beneficiary" and freezes both.
+  * **Tenancy farming.** If you cultivate but the land is in someone else's name, you are not eligible under current rules. (Several states are pushing for tenant inclusion — not yet law as of April 2026.)
+  * **Wrong eKYC status interpretation.** "OTP eKYC done" but bank-side mismatch → installments still blocked. Both must be green.

+  * Some Tehsildars insist that mutation = land seeding. They are different. Mutation is the state-side correction; land seeding is the central PM-KISAN database sync. The RTI should ask both.

+**Q. I am a tenant farmer. Can I still apply?** No, current rules require titled ownership in your or family's name. Some states (TG, KE) run parallel "Rythu Bandhu"-style schemes that include tenants — check your state agriculture portal.

+**Q. My Aadhaar mobile is old. Can I still do e-KYC?** Use **biometric** e-KYC at a CSC (₹15) or **face authentication** via the PM Kisan Mobile App. Both bypass the OTP requirement.
+**Q. Will I get arrears if installments were missed?** Yes — once the discrepancy is corrected and your account is restored to "Active", **all missed installments are paid as arrears** in a single transfer.

+PM-KISAN is one of the most reliable cash transfers India runs — but the moment a single field in the central database doesn't match your state land record, payment stops with no notification.
