Quick answer: Compare the enrolment slip with the child's birth certificate and the parent or guardian's Aadhaar. For a child born on or after 1 October 2023, UIDAI says a birth certificate is mandatory for enrolment. Correct any error in the issuing civil record first, then re-enrol with the valid original documents and consistent Head-of-Family details. Do not edit a scan or create an affidavit unless the competent authority's procedure requires it.
| Field | Compare |
|---|---|
| Child's name | Birth certificate, enrolment slip and any permitted proof of identity |
| Date of birth | Birth certificate date versus data entered by the operator |
| Parent names | Birth certificate versus parent/guardian Aadhaar |
| Relationship | Head-of-Family choice and relationship document |
| Registration details | Certificate number, date, registrar, QR or verification record |
| Transliteration | English and local-language entries displayed before submission |
Small spelling differences can have real consequences. Decide whether the civil certificate is wrong or the Aadhaar entry was typed wrongly; the remedy differs.
Take the original certificate, rejection/status record and the required parent/guardian documents to an authorised Aadhaar centre. Ask the operator to enter the data exactly as the certificate shows. Read both language fields on screen before confirming and collect the EID slip.
UIDAI's current enrolment material says the certificate will be scanned and parent/guardian Aadhaar details are captured for Head-of-Family enrolment. For a below-five child, biometrics and parent/guardian linkage follow UIDAI's current rules.
Apply to the Registrar of Births and Deaths or other competent civil-registration authority for correction under its procedure. Aadhaar cannot be used to rewrite an incorrect civil birth record. Preserve the correction order and corrected certificate.
Do not cancel or replace a certificate casually. Where two certificates exist, obtain formal clarification or cancellation through the registrar before submitting either to UIDAI.
UIDAI says rejected new enrolments may be re-enrolled after quality or technical rejection. If Aadhaar already exists, do not keep re-enrolling; retrieve it instead. See the general Aadhaar rejection guide.
UIDAI's Citizen Charter says child enrolment is normally processed within 30 days, subject to the stated conditions and exclusions. “Normally” is not a guaranteed deadline. Use the EID to track status and call 1947 if the reason is unclear.
Give the school, scholarship or benefit authority the corrected civil record and the Aadhaar acknowledgement if its rules permit. Ask whether another lawful identity document is accepted while Aadhaar is pending. Do not claim that Aadhaar is approved before generation.
For scholarship-related document consistency, see the Top Class Education checklist.
Use UIDAI's grievance channel for unexplained repeated rejection. A narrow RTI can ask UIDAI for the recorded rejection reason and movement dates, but not biometric data or an order to generate Aadhaar. Civil certificate records must be sought from the issuing local authority.
UIDAI specifically says it is mandatory for a child born on or after 1 October 2023. Check the current document list for other cases.
