RRB Group D 2026 — result, PET standards and RTI

Group D — officially Level 1 of the 7th Pay Commission — covers Track Maintainer Grade IV, Helpers and Assistants across departments, Assistant Pointsman, and similar. The ladder for every recent cycle:

1. Computer-Based Test. One paper, roughly 100 questions in 90 minutes across mathematics, general intelligence and reasoning, general science, and current affairs. One-third negative marking per wrong answer.
2. Normalisation. Your paper runs across many shifts; scores are equalised by a published formula. This is where most result disputes live — and where an RTI earns its fee.
3. Physical Efficiency Test. Qualifying only — no marks — but failing it ends the run.
4. Document Verification and Medical. Done together; the medical standard for these posts is strict on vision and physical fitness.

For male candidates, both in a single chance each:

1. Carry 35 kilograms and walk 100 metres in 2 minutes.
2. Run 1,000 metres in 4 minutes 15 seconds.

For female candidates:

1. Carry 20 kilograms and walk 100 metres in 2 minutes.
2. Run 1,000 metres in 5 minutes 40 seconds.

Pregnant candidates are exempted from PET for the cycle. Practice with the actual weight — candidates who train on empty runs routinely fail the carry.

Medical exams apply vision and fitness standards set for the post. If you are declared unfit, the medical notice handed to you names an Appeal Medical Board route:

1. The appeal fee is ₹1,000, paid by demand draft in favour of the authority named in the notice.
2. The deadline is the one stated in your notice — read it, because it is notice-specific, not a fixed number of days.
3. The Appeal Medical Board's decision on medical fitness is final for the cycle.

5. The number of candidates called for PET, DV and panel, by stage.

Railway Recruitment Boards are public authorities; their PIOs answer these routinely. Keep the notice number exact — an RTI pitched at the wrong cycle comes back asking for clarification and costs you a month.

1. **RRB website and helpline** for status; emails to the RRB's published address with roll number in the subject.
2. **Representation window** after each result — every notice opens a short window for grievances; use it and keep the receipt.
3. **RTI** as drafted — the file-level answer in 30 days.
4. **First appeal** within 30 days of a weak reply; **second appeal to the CIC** within 90 days.
5. Courts only for a legal error with evidence — your normalisation RTI reply is usually the evidence.

Real example. Dr. Shrawan Kumar Pathak's student cleared the CEN 08/2024 CBT and PET, then was declared medically unfit with a one-line reason. An RTI for the doctor's record and the standard applied showed his vision had been tested against the wrong post's standard. The appeal board corrected it; he joined the panel.

The one you applied under — recent Group D cycles include CEN 08/2024 and CEN 09/2025. Your admit card carries it.

Qualifying. Clear it or the run ends there; it adds no marks.
