Senior Citizen Pension — Document Checklist
A relative or volunteer can use this to gather everything before the visit. State rules vary — confirm locally.
1. Identity & age
- Aadhaar of the senior citizen (with linked active mobile)
- Age proof — birth certificate / school leaving / Aadhaar with DoB / passport
- Two recent passport-size photographs
2. Address & residency
- Residence proof — voter ID / utility bill / rent agreement
- Domicile certificate (state-issued, where required)
- Ration card
3. Income / category
- Income certificate (within validity period — varies by state)
- BPL card copy (if eligible category)
- Widow / disability certificate (where applicable for special pension)
- Self-declaration that no other government pension is being drawn (where required)
4. Bank linkage
- Bank passbook copy — first page with name, account no., IFSC
- Cancelled cheque (if asked)
- Aadhaar-bank seeding confirmation (NPCI mapper)
- Account is single-holder in the senior citizen's name (preferred) — or as state rules permit
5. Optional but useful
- Joint photograph with the relative who will help follow up
- Mobile number of the helper, written next to the senior citizen's mobile, on the form
- One earlier government letter showing the senior citizen's address (helps verify)
Track it
Tip: If the senior citizen has hearing or mobility difficulty, mention it in writing on the form so the office records it for future visits.
