Government Scheme — Application Readiness Checklist
Use this once before any scheme application. Saves repeat trips for missing papers.
1. Identify the scheme correctly
- Scheme name (full official name, not acronym only)
- Issuing ministry / department / state body
- Latest official notification or guideline (PDF)
- Application portal / form source (gov.in / nic.in only)
- Last date / window of application
2. Eligibility check
- Age, gender, caste / category (if applicable)
- Income ceiling (with required certificate)
- Geographic eligibility (state / district / block)
- Occupation / status (farmer / artisan / student / SHG member)
- Existing benefits — does this scheme overlap with another you already get?
3. Standard documents almost every scheme asks for
- Aadhaar (with linked active mobile)
- Recent passport-size photo (digital + printed)
- Bank passbook copy / cancelled cheque
- Income certificate (state-issued, within validity)
- Domicile / residence certificate
- Caste / category certificate (if applicable)
4. Scheme-specific extras (write in)
- Land record / khasra (for agricultural schemes)
- Ration card / BPL card
- Disability certificate (UDID)
- Educational marksheet
- Self-declaration / undertaking (where prescribed)
- Other — [write in]
5. Bank readiness
- Bank account is in the applicant's name (not relative's)
- Aadhaar is seeded with the bank — confirmed via NPCI mapper
- KYC is up to date — no "freeze" / "non-operative" flag
6. Submission
- Online — fill, upload, save the application number + acknowledgement PDF
- Offline — submit two copies, get one stamped back as receipt
- Through CSC (Common Service Centre) — keep the CSC reference + slip
