Why your PM-KISAN instalment may be stuck

Reason 1 — Aadhaar not seeded with bank

Most common cause. Visit your bank with Aadhaar; ask for “Aadhaar seeding” + DBT mandate. Re-check status after 7 days.

Reason 2 — eKYC pending

Required since 2023. Three ways to complete:

  1. Online via Aadhaar OTP at pmkisan.gov.in/aadhaarbasedotp.aspx.
  2. Biometric eKYC at any CSC (Common Service Centre).
  3. Face authentication via PM-KISAN mobile app.

Reason 3 — Land record not seeded

Your land's khasra/khata number must be linked to the Aadhaar in your state's revenue records. Visit the Tehsildar / Patwari with land records + Aadhaar.

Reason 4 — Income Tax payer flag

If anyone in your household paid income tax in the previous year, you're excluded. Your name shows Inactive — IT Filer.

Reason 5 — Inactive beneficiary status

If your status is Inactive without a clear reason, file an RTI to the Block Agriculture Officer (BAO):

To CPIO, Block Agriculture Officer, [Your Block]
Subject: RTI under §6(1) — PM-KISAN status
1. Reason my PM-KISAN status (Registration No: [number]) shows Inactive.
2. Date my eKYC was completed (or last attempt).
3. Date my land record was last verified.
4. Action plan + estimated date of next instalment release.
5. State-wide pendency for FY 2025-26 — number of farmers awaiting instalment in this district.

Use RTI Drafter. Statutory reply: 30 days under §7(1) RTI Act 2005.

If your name is missing from the PM-KISAN list

  1. Open pmkisan.gov.inFarmers CornerNew Farmer Registration (Aadhaar-based).
  2. Submit your details. Your Patwari verifies your land record.
  3. You should appear on the list within 30-60 days. File RTI to BAO if delayed.

PM-KISAN 21st installment date 2026

The 20th instalment was disbursed in early 2026. Per the typical Apr-Jul cycle, the 21st instalment is expected around June 2026, with formal announcement typically 2-3 weeks before release at a state-capital event.

Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible for PM-KISAN?

Landholding farmer families with cultivable agricultural land. Excluded: institutional landholders, government employees, professionals (CAs, doctors, engineers, lawyers), pensioners with monthly pension > Rs 10,000, income-tax payers, MPs/MLAs/Mayors.

I'm a tenant farmer. Can I get PM-KISAN?

No. PM-KISAN is for landholders (the title-holder). Tenant farmers without registered land aren't eligible — though some state governments have parallel schemes (KALIA in Odisha, Rythu Bandhu in Telangana etc.).

I haven't received the last 2 instalments. What now?

Check status first. If status is Active but no payment, the issue is likely bank-side — visit your branch with Aadhaar + bank passbook. If status is Inactive or IT Filer, file an RTI to BAO.

How do I update my mobile number on PM-KISAN?

The mobile must be linked to Aadhaar (UIDAI). Update at any Aadhaar Seva Kendra. PM-KISAN auto-syncs from UIDAI within 7 days.

Is PM-KISAN taxable income?

PM-KISAN payments are tax-free under §10(35B) of the Income Tax Act 1961.
