PM Internship Scheme 2026: apply online, eligibility and stipend

PM Internship Scheme 2026 is open on a rolling basis. You apply free at pminternship.mca.gov.in if you are 18 to 25, not in a full-time job, and every family member earns under ₹12 lakh a year. You get ₹9,000 a month for 6 or 9 months plus a ₹6,000 joining grant.

Eight questions. One no and you stop. The portal reads your date of birth from Aadhaar, so a wrong Aadhaar DOB blocks you before you start.

1. Age 18 to 25 on the day you submit the application.
2. Passed Class 10, Class 12, ITI, a polytechnic diploma, a degree such as BA, BCom, BTech, or a postgraduate degree such as MA, MSc, MCA, MTech.
3. Not in a full-time job.
4. Not in full-time study. Online and distance learners are fine. Final-year UG and PG students are fine with an NOC.
5. Nobody in your family (you, parents, spouse) holds a permanent or regular government job. Central, State, PSU, statutory body and local body all count. Contract staff do not.
6. No family member earned more than ₹12 lakh in the preceding financial year.
7. Not a graduate of an IIT, IIM, National Law University, IISER, NID, IIIT or IISc, and no CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MD, MS, MBA or equivalent, MPhil or PhD.
8. Never completed an apprenticeship under NATS or NAPS, and not in any other central or state skilling or internship scheme right now.

The age band moved from 21 to 24 to 18 to 25 in the March 2026 guidelines. That is the biggest change this year. A 19-year-old with Class 12 qualifies. A 25-year-old with an MSc qualifies. Both need family income under the ₹12 lakh line.

Three groups are out no matter what:

• Institute exclusions: graduates or postgraduates of IITs, IIMs, NLUs, IISER, NIDs, IIITs or IISc.
• Degree exclusions: CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MD, MS, MBA or equivalent, MPhil, PhD. Ordinary master's degrees like MA, MSc, MCom, MCA and MTech are allowed.
• Family exclusions: a permanent government employee in the family, or any member above ₹12 lakh. Family means you, your parents and your spouse. Siblings do not count.

Foreign nationals cannot apply. There is no reservation, but the portal's shortlisting is built to represent SC, ST, OBC and PwD candidates.

Yes, since 8 April 2026. The Ministry's addendum admits full-time final-year graduation and post-graduation students, and the Press Information Bureau announced it on 22 April 2026. Two conditions:

• You meet every other rule, including age and income.
• You upload a No Objection Certificate from your institution during the application. It must say the college has no objection and that academics, exams and attendance will not suffer. Signatories: Head of Department, Dean or Training and Placement Officer for a university; Principal or TPO for a college. The NOC format is annexed to the addendum on the portal.

Distance and online learners were already eligible and need no NOC.

What the ₹9,000 headline hides:

• Order matters. The company pays its ₹900 first and uploads proof by the 5th of the month. Only then does the Government release ₹8,100. If the company pays less because of attendance, the Government share is cut in the same proportion.
• Bank seeding is the gate. DBT lands only in an account seeded to your Aadhaar. Check it under My Profile on the portal, or use the wiki guide on checking DBT and Aadhaar bank seeding status.
• Minimum, not maximum. Companies may add travel, food or extra money. It shows as icons on the listing and under Additional Benefits.

Unpaid campus internship vs PMIS: a college-arranged internship usually pays ₹0 and gives you a letter. PMIS pays ₹9,000 a month for 6 or 9 months, a ₹6,000 grant, insurance, and a completion certificate issued through the portal. You are not an employee, though. The Ministry of Labour clarified on 27 September 2024 that PMIS interns do not count as employees, so there is no PF and no job guarantee.

Keep ready: Aadhaar with a linked mobile, Class 10 and higher certificates as PDFs under 7 MB, and the NOC if you are in final year. Then:

1. Register. Tap Login / Register, choose New User, enter your mobile number, verify the OTP, set a password with one capital, one small letter, one digit and one symbol.
2. Complete e-KYC. Aadhaar OTP or DigiLocker. DigiLocker needs your mobile linked to Aadhaar. Until e-KYC is done the Apply button stays locked. New to it? Read the DigiLocker setup guide.
3. Build the profile. Qualifications in order of completion: Class 10, Class 12, then degree. Upload certificates. Sign the self-declaration. The portal generates your CV.
4. Filter and apply. State, district, sector, field. Each listing has its own opening and closing date. You may hold a maximum of 3 active applications. A slot frees up when an application is rejected, withdrawn, or the offer lapses.
5. Handle the offer. Up to 2 offers, accept only 1, within 14 days.
6. Join. Report on the date in the offer letter. HR confirms joining on the portal, and that confirmation triggers your first ₹3,000.

This wiki does not host the internship list. Listings live only on the portal and the official app.

The portal shortlists a pool for each listing from your preferences and the company's requirements. The company picks from that pool. Not being shortlisted is not a grievance; the FAQ says so in plain words.

• Offer: 14 days to accept or reject. Silence means it lapses on day 15.
• Two offers: accept one. You may switch to the other within 15 days of accepting.
• After acceptance: all other applications are blocked.
• Joining: report by the date in the letter. Miss it and you get a 14-day grace period. Still absent on day 15 and the system marks you DNR, Did Not Report. A supervisor can approve an extension of up to 1 month from the original date, but you must request it.
• Penalties: 2 consecutive rejected, lapsed or DNR offers = 3-month ban. 2 such instances in total = 1-year ban. Drop out and you are out for 6 months with one more chance only. A second dropout, or a termination by the company, ends your PMIS eligibility for good.
• Certificate: full duration earns a completion certificate. Leave after at least half and you can request a participation certificate.

Emergency? A sabbatical of up to 2 months in total is allowed. No money during the break; the end date moves back by the same number of days.

The candidate FAQ settles the fee question in one line: no registration or application fee, the entire process is free of charge. So every “PMIS registration ₹199” cyber-cafe board, every Telegram “selection guarantee”, every WhatsApp forward with a bit.ly link is a scam by definition.

• The only address is pminternship.mca.gov.in. No .com, no .in, no .org, no lookalike with an extra word.
• The only app is PM Internship Scheme on Google Play, publisher Ministry of Corporate Affairs, package name com.mca.pm_internship.
• Real offers appear on your portal dashboard and registered email. Nobody calls to “confirm” with an OTP.
• No official needs your Aadhaar PDF, bank login, or a “DBT activation” payment. DBT activates itself once your account is Aadhaar-seeded.

There is no single last date. The pilot runs till December 2026 and companies post listings on a rolling basis, each with its own window. A website giving one “last date for the scheme” is guessing or selling something.

New internships are 6 or 9 months, decided by the company and stated in the listing. Only interns who joined in the earlier pilot rounds continue on 12 months. Source: para 5.1 of the guidelines dated 12 March 2026.

₹9,000 from March 2026, for new and existing interns alike. ₹900 comes from the company and ₹8,100 from the Government by DBT. The ₹5,000 figure was the 2024-25 pilot rate.

Yes, if you are 25 on the day you apply, family income is under ₹12 lakh, nobody in the family has a permanent government job, and your college gives an NOC. MSc is allowed; MBA, MPhil and PhD are not.

No. The limit is now 3 active applications at any time. When one is rejected or lapses, a slot frees up.

No. e-KYC works with Aadhaar OTP. DigiLocker is the second option, and it only works if your mobile is linked to Aadhaar.
