National Career Service — the government's free job portal

• Job-seeker registration — Aadhaar-linked signup, profile with education, skills, experience and preferred locations; matched vacancies surface on your dashboard.
• Vacancies — government and private postings indexed from across the country; the portal's own counters show lakhs of live vacancies at any time.
• Career services — career counselling, aptitude and skill assessment, and links to skill courses; Model Career Centres run in-person versions of the same services.
• Job fairs — rojgar mela listings by city and date, with direct registration.
• International placement — an overseas-jobs channel tied to the e-Migrate framework for legal overseas employment.
• Employer side — employers register with verification, post vacancies and shortlist; the portal publishes a blacklisted-entities list of employers caught misusing it.
• Anti-fraud stand — the portal's standing warning: NCS never charges any fee to job seekers at any stage.

1. Go to ncs.gov.in and choose Job Seeker registration.
2. Verify with Aadhaar OTP; your name and date of birth fill automatically.
3. Complete the profile — education, skills, experience, languages, location preference — and upload a resume.
4. Set job alerts (SMS/email) by role and city.
5. Apply from the listing; track applications and interview calls on the dashboard.
6. Also register on your state employment exchange portal where one exists — the two systems serve different vacancy streams.

• 1514 — the Government of India toll-free NCS helpline, published on the portal's contact page.
• Email support: [email protected].
• For scheme-level grievances, the Directorate General of Employment (Ministry of Labour & Employment) is the nodal body.

• Fake “NCS registration fees” or “exam fees” — the portal is free; genuine employers on it cannot charge you to apply.
• Telegram and WhatsApp “NCS recruiters” offering jobs for a payment — verify the employer on the portal; use the blacklist check.
• Offers that bypass the portal entirely while using its name — treat as fraud and report on 1514.

• Model Career Centres are the ministry's physical front-end for NCS — counselling, assessment and placement support in person; ask at the district employment office whether one runs near you.
• State employment exchanges still register candidates separately; their notification-of-vacancy channel is a different stream from NCS listings, so a serious job seeker uses both.
• Job fairs listed on the portal are real hiring events — registration on NCS is usually the entry pass; carry printed resumes.
• Vocational guidance for students choosing a stream is also a listed service — not only for the unemployed.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment and the DGE are public authorities with CPIOs. NCS itself is a mission-mode project of the ministry — it is not a creation of the four labour codes now in force (since 21 November 2025); the old Employment Exchanges (Compulsory Notification of Vacancies) Act, 1959 remains a separate, unrepealed statute. Questions NCS users legitimately put through RTI:

1. The number of job-seeker registrations and vacancies listed on the
   NCS portal for [district/state] as on [date].
2. The number of grievances received on NCS helpline 1514 in the last
   12 months and their disposal rate.
3. The criteria and number of employers blacklisted from the portal
   to date, with the orders.
4. The number of Model Career Centres functional in [state] and the
   services each is mandated to provide.
5. The funds allocated and spent on the NCS project in the last
   financial year.

Address the CPIO, Directorate General of Employment, Ministry of Labour and Employment — the AI RTI Drafter fills the block.

No — private vacancies form the bulk of listings; government posts appear too.

No portal can. NCS matches and connects; the interview and offer remain with the employer.

Job-seeker registration is open to citizens of working age; specific vacancies carry their own limits.

Keep the profile current — stale profiles sink in matching. Update after any course or job change.

No — NCS is the national online portal; state employment exchanges run their own registration and notifications. Registering on both widens your vacancy stream.

The portal verifies employers and publishes a blacklist, but verify any offer yourself: no genuine employer on NCS charges a fee to applicants, and offers routed off-platform for “processing payments” are fraud — report them on 1514.
