EPF PF claim status is the live stage of a Form 19 withdrawal, Form 31 advance or transfer you already filed with EPFO. Check it with your UAN on the member portal, on UMANG Track Claim, or on the passbook claim page. Read the status meaning first, then decide whether to wait, fix KYC, or raise EPFiGMS.
Open the tracker only after you know the words. If the portal uses a slightly different label, follow the remark on the screen.
| Status | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Under Process | EPFO has the claim and is verifying it. Not yet approved or paid. |
| Approved | The claim is accepted. Payment is being arranged. |
| Settled | The amount has been sent to the bank seeded on your UAN. |
| Rejected | The claim was declined. A reason is usually shown. |
| Returned | The claim was sent back, often for a correction. |
A Settled row is not the same as money already sitting in your passbook app. NEFT can take a little time after EPFO marks Settled. Check the EPFO passbook debit and the bank statement together.
Common claim types behind those labels:
| Form | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Form 19 | Final PF settlement after you leave a job |
| Form 31 | Advance or partial withdrawal |
| Form 13 | Transfer of the old balance into a new employer account |
| Form 10C | Pension withdrawal or scheme certificate, where it applies |
Keep these details before you track or follow up.
| Detail | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| 12-digit UAN | Login and UAN track claim |
| Member portal password | Online Services on the member portal |
| UAN-linked mobile | OTP on portal and UMANG |
| Claim or tracking ID | Quote on EPFiGMS and in RTI |
| Bank account and IFSC | Where settlement is sent |
Checking claim status is not a balance check. Balance is the savings still in the account. Status is the fate of a filed claim. For the passbook, use EPF PF balance check passbook UAN.
EPF claim status path
① Log in with UAN → ② Online Services, Track Claim Status → ③ Read Under Process, Approved or Settled → ④ Fix KYC or raise EPFiGMS → ⑤ RTI the EPFO regional PIO if still silent
Visit passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemClaimStatusUAN and enter the UAN. Recent claims appear. For the rejection reason and form type, still log in to the member portal.
Open passbook.epfindia.gov.in with UAN. A settled withdrawal shows a debit once payment is processed. Use this when status says Settled but the bank SMS has not arrived.
You need an activated UAN. After EPFO's mid-2026 member-portal upgrade, UAN activation and allotment are offered on UMANG with Aadhaar face authentication. Follow the live screen. Do not pay an agent to “activate” it. See recover and activate UAN if you cannot log in.
EPFO pays only when Aadhaar, bank account and PAN on the UAN are verified. A name mismatch, a closed bank account, or an unconfirmed date of exit is enough to Return or Reject the claim.
Do this before you file again:
Aadhaar enrolment and updates sit on how to apply for Aadhaar. PAN issues sit on how to apply for PAN card.
Date of exit must be on the UAN. If you left a job and the employer never marked exit, Form 19 often will not move. Ask the employer to file the exit. If they refuse, that fact belongs in the EPFiGMS text and later in RTI.
If the status sits on Under Process with no reason, or Settled with no credit, do not start with RTI. Raise a grievance first.
If EPFiGMS is silent, or the reply is a paste that ignores your claim ID, file RTI under RTI Act 2005 s.6(1) to the Public Information Officer of your EPFO regional office. The PIO must reply in 30 days under s.7(1). First appeal is s.19(1).
Draft with the AI RTI Drafter. Walk-through: The RTI Playbook. Delay-specific notes: RTI for EPF withdrawal delay.
Sample RTI, five lines:
Do not ask the PIO to “release my PF tomorrow”. Ask for the record. The noting shows whether KYC, exit date or a bank reject is the real block.
EPFO charges no fee to check pf claim status, file a claim, or download a passbook. Anyone who asks for money to “speed up Form 19” is a fraud.
Never share the UAN password or OTP. EPFO will not call you for an OTP. Use only epfindia.gov.in properties and the genuine UMANG app.
Lookalike sites that ask you to “login UAN here” to see status are harvesting passwords. The official member portal host is unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in.
Log in at the EPFO member portal, open Online Services, then Track Claim Status. Or use UMANG Employee Centric Services, Track Claim. Or enter the UAN on passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemClaimStatusUAN. You need the UAN-linked mobile for OTP.
Form 19 is final settlement. The same Track Claim Status page shows form type. Open the claim ID. If it is Returned, fix KYC or date of exit before you file Form 19 again.
Form 31 is a partial withdrawal. Track it the same way as Form 19: member portal, UMANG Track Claim, or the UAN claim-status page. The purpose you ticked on the form does not change the tracker path.
Yes, on the MemClaimStatusUAN page with the UAN alone. For the rejection remark and full form type, log in. UMANG also needs the registered mobile.
Settled means EPFO has sent the payment. Check the passbook debit and the seeded account. If the UTR never credits, confirm IFSC and account number on the UAN, then file EPFiGMS with the claim ID. RTI the regional office if the grievance dies.
Usual causes: KYC not verified, name or date-of-birth mismatch, wrong bank, or no date of exit. The Track Claim Status page shows the reason. Correct it, get it approved, then file a fresh claim. Do not stack three Form 19s on the same error.
Yes, for member-portal login and for UMANG. If activation is no longer on the website, complete it on UMANG with Aadhaar face authentication, as the current EPFO screens show. Then come back to Track Claim Status.
EPFO does not publish a guaranteed day count that this page can quote. Track the live status. If Under Process lasts far longer than your own earlier claims, raise EPFiGMS. Then use RTI for the noting.
