2. Step 2: Go to resident.uidai.gov.in/check-aadhaar-status — the official UIDAI status portal.
3. Step 3: Enter the 14-digit EID without slashes, enter the date (DD/MM/YYYY) and time (HH:MM:SS) exactly as printed on your slip, and the captcha.

UIDAI provides a Biometric Locking/Unlocking feature to prevent unauthorised biometric authentication. This is important for preventing Aadhaar-enabled fraud.

How to lock biometrics:

1. Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/lock-unlock-biometrics.
2. Login with your 12-digit Aadhaar number + captcha → OTP.
3. Click “Enable Locking” → confirm.
4. Your biometrics (fingerprints + iris) are now locked. No one can authenticate using them until you unlock.

How to unlock biometrics (temporarily or permanently):

1. Return to the same portal.
2. Choose “Unlock (10 minutes)“ for temporary unlock (re-locks automatically) or “Disable Locking” to permanently remove the lock.
3. Enter OTP to confirm.

1. Status check by EID: The status portal for new enrolments does not require OTP — you only need your EID + date/time. You can check status without any mobile.
2. Verify Aadhaar validity: Visit the Verify Aadhaar page — enter just the 12-digit Aadhaar number to confirm it's active. No OTP needed.
3. Aadhaar Seva Kendra visit: For anything requiring OTP (download, update, SRN status), visit the nearest centre with your Aadhaar + an original photo ID. They update your mobile on the spot via biometric verification (fee: Rs. 50). See mobile number update guide.
4. TOTP via mAadhaar: If you previously set up the mAadhaar app, you can generate TOTP without mobile signal. See mAadhaar guide.
