How to file RTI in Haryana — online and by post (2026)

1. Step 1 — Identify the public authority. Haryana's portal asks you to choose the department or public authority; for district records the portal guidance is to select the headquarter or directorate concerned. Filing at the wrong office burns weeks — the application should then transfer under §6(3), but a clean first shot is faster.
2. Step 2 — Draft narrow. Numbered questions, one subject, records rather than reasons. The portal caps the subject text at about 1,000 characters with a longer description field and attachments up to 20 MB. Hindi or English both work; Hindi travels fastest in district offices.
