After CBSE v.

Why this RTI works

After CBSE v. Aditya Bandopadhyay (SC, 2011), evaluated answer-sheets are 'information' under §2(f). The candidate can demand the answer-sheet, mark-book extract and evaluator notes via RTI. Most boards moved to a formal reval/recheck/photocopy regime, but RTI remains the safety net for unjustified denials.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ask for evaluator's name?

No — §8(1)(g) protects evaluator identity. You can ask for the marks-record + answer-sheet copy.

Cost of answer-sheet copy?

Boards charge Rs. 700-1500 for photocopy under their own bye-laws. RTI fee is separate Rs. 10.
