A missing order, an unexpected listing change or a silent RTI application can stall your next step. This guide shows which official Telangana High Court channel to use, what each record proves, and when RTI is not the correct substitute for the court's certified-copy procedure.
Quick answer: Search the High Court's CSIS portal or eCourts using the 16-character CNR, case number, party name or advocate details. Check the official cause-list site for listing. Request certified judicial copies under court rules. Use the High Court RTI portal for records held by the Registry, especially administrative material.
The official Telangana High Court website links to CSIS for case status and orders, and to its separate cause-list service for daily and supplementary lists. eCourts can search a 16-character alphanumeric CNR. These screens are useful working information; obtain a certified copy when a formal, authenticated court record is required.
| What you need | Start here | What to keep |
|---|---|---|
| Current case stage, hearing history or order shown online | Telangana High Court CSIS | PDF or dated screenshot plus the CNR and case number |
| Daily, supplementary or advance listing | Telangana High Court cause lists | The exact list PDF, date, court hall and serial number |
| Search by CNR or alternative case fields | eCourts Services | The 16-character CNR and case-history result |
| An authenticated order or case document | The copy-application route under the High Court's rules | Copy-application number, fee receipt and certified copy |
| Information held by the Registry | Telangana High Court RTI portal | RTI registration number, payment record and submitted text |
Do not use a search-engine result, an advocate's forwarded image or a third-party case-status site as the final record. Start at tshc.gov.in and follow the court's own links.
The High Court for the State of Telangana is a public authority for the Right to Information Act, 2005. Its published section 4 manual identifies a State Public Information Officer and an appellate authority, and its official website links to an online RTI portal. Section 7(1) of the RTI Act ordinarily gives the PIO 30 days to decide a request; a first appeal lies under section 19(1) when no decision arrives or the applicant disputes the decision.
The Supreme Court's Constitution Bench in Central Public Information Officer, Supreme Court of India v. Subhash Chandra Agarwal, Civil Appeal No. 10044 of 2010 and connected appeals, judgment dated 13 November 2019, confirmed that the office of the Chief Justice of India is a public authority under the RTI Act. The judgment does not turn RTI into an appeal against a judicial order or a way to demand a judge's explanation.
For a pleading, judgment, decree, order or other case record, first check the court's copying rules and copy-application procedure. Telangana's Civil Rules of Practice describe certified copies and the endorsements recorded on them, including the copy-application number and processing dates. That route is designed to produce the authenticated document a court, bank or authority may require. RTI remains useful for an existing record held by the Registry, particularly administrative records, statistics, notified procedures, sanctioned posts, procurement or a documented file movement.

The exact form, fee and permitted mode are governed by the High Court's current rules and Registry instructions. A safe preparation sequence is:
Do not promise a universal delivery period. The time depends on the record, its availability and the applicable copying procedure. If a copy application is returned, preserve the endorsement and cure the stated defect rather than filing multiple duplicate applications.
RTI works best when you describe a record, period and office. Useful examples include:
RTI is not the right tool to ask why a judge passed an order, why a bench exercised judicial discretion, what legal strategy you should follow, or when a case will be decided. Ask for records, not explanations that the public authority does not already hold.

Draft a focused request with the AI RTI Drafter. If the statutory clock expires or the decision is inadequate, use the First Appeal Builder.
Mask personal addresses, phone numbers and identity numbers before sending documents to anyone who is not part of the case or official process.
A litigant sees no new order on a messaging-app screenshot. She searches the same case on CSIS, matches the CNR and downloads the official order. The next hearing is absent from the saved daily list, so she checks the supplementary list and finds the case there. Because her bank needs an authenticated order, she uses the copy-application procedure instead of filing RTI for the judgment. She reserves RTI for the recorded movement of a delayed administrative application.
Use the alternative fields available on CSIS or the eCourts service, such as case number, filing number, party name or advocate name. Match the case type, year and parties before opening the history.
The official eCourts help describes the CNR as a 16-character alphanumeric identifier entered without a hyphen or space. Copy it exactly from the official case record.
Use the Telangana High Court's official cause-list service. Check the relevant date and also inspect supplementary or additional lists close to the hearing.
First use the court's published online record and certified-copy procedure. Whether another access route is available depends on the applicable court rules and the record. RTI should not be used to bypass a procedure created for authenticated judicial copies.
RTI can provide an existing order, list or recorded administrative document. It does not compel a judge or Registry officer to create a fresh explanation or offer legal advice.
Section 7(1) of the RTI Act ordinarily provides 30 days from receipt. Other statutory provisions can alter the calculation in limited situations. Preserve the portal acknowledgement and calculate from receipt by the public authority.
The High Court's current section 4 disclosure and RTI portal identify the designated appellate authority. Use the current designation shown there rather than an old person's name copied from a blog.
Keep both, recheck the official cause list and case history, and confirm urgently with the Registry or your advocate. Do not miss a hearing while waiting for a portal correction or an RTI response.
