Direct answer. Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/bank-seeding-status, log in with your Aadhaar and OTP, and the portal shows the bank currently mapped to your Aadhaar in the NPCI system, along with Active or Inactive status. That one bank account is where every Aadhaar-routed DBT payment goes. If the wrong bank is shown or the status is Inactive, re-seed through your correct bank.
Most people hear “seeding” and assume one thing was done. In practice, two separate steps are involved.
Step 1: Bank-level KYC seeding. When you visit a bank branch and submit your Aadhaar, the bank links it to your account for its own KYC records. This satisfies the bank's compliance requirement but does not, by itself, register your account to receive DBT payments.
Step 2: NPCI mapper seeding. After KYC, the bank must update the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) central mapper with your Aadhaar-to-account record. The mapper is the routing table the government uses to send subsidy payments. If a bank skips or delays this step, your Aadhaar may show as “linked” at the branch but DBT will not arrive.
These are distinct operations. The myAadhaar “Bank Seeding Status” check reads directly from the NPCI server. UIDAI states on the portal that the information “is fetched from the server of National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI)” and that UIDAI is not responsible for its correctness. What you see is the NPCI mapper record, not the bank's internal KYC record.
You need an Aadhaar-linked mobile number to complete this check. If your mobile is not linked, the OTP will not arrive. See how to check and update your Aadhaar details first.
On myAadhaar (primary method):
If the status shows “Active” and the correct bank name, your account is registered in the NPCI mapper and DBT payments will route there. If the status shows “Inactive” or “Not Linked”, see the fix section below.
On NPCI BASE portal:
NPCI runs its Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE) platform, which lets you check NPCI mapping status and also request a change. On npci.org.in, go to the Consumer tab, select “Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE)”, and choose “Aadhaar Mapped Status”. Enter your Aadhaar number, complete the CAPTCHA, and submit the OTP to see your current mapping.
On PFMS for payment tracing:
To verify whether a specific scheme payment was sent to your account, open pfms.nic.in, go to “Know Your Payment”, select your bank, enter your account number, and complete the CAPTCHA. PFMS confirms whether the government processed a payment to that account.
NPCI mapper holds only one active seeding per Aadhaar number. If your Aadhaar is linked to accounts at more than one bank, DBT credit goes to the last-seeded bank whose status is Active in the NPCI mapper.
This is a common source of confusion. A person who seeded at Bank A in 2022 and then seeded again at Bank B in 2024 will find that Bank B now receives DBT while Bank A receives nothing, even if Bank A still shows “linked” in its own records.
The only way to confirm which bank is currently active is to check on myAadhaar or NPCI BASE, not to ask a branch.
Several situations cause a mismatch between what the bank shows you and what the NPCI mapper holds:
| Situation | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Bank updated KYC but not NPCI mapper | Bank record shows “linked”; NPCI shows inactive | Ask the branch to re-submit the NPCI mapper update |
| Old bank active, new bank not yet seeded | Old bank still receives DBT | Seed at the new bank; wait 2 to 5 working days |
| Account closed or frozen after seeding | Mapper may still show the old bank | Open a new account, seed it, verify after 2 to 5 days |
| Name mismatch between Aadhaar and bank records | Seeding rejected silently | Correct the name at the bank and re-seed |
Delays of 2 to 5 working days are normal. If status has not changed after 7 working days, escalate to the branch manager in writing.
Some schemes add a third requirement on top of NPCI mapper seeding, sometimes called “scheme-level Aadhaar seeding” or “e-KYC for the scheme.”
Under PM-KISAN, for example, the farmer must complete e-KYC on the PM-KISAN portal separately. Even with Active NPCI mapper seeding, a farmer without PM-KISAN e-KYC will not receive the instalment. LPG subsidy requires Aadhaar linked to both your gas connection and your bank account. See LPG subsidy status check for that process.
The NPCI mapper check tells you whether payment can reach your bank. The scheme portal tells you whether you are cleared to receive it. Both must be in order. Check PM-KISAN instalment status if you are a farmer expecting that subsidy. If DBT is not arriving at all, the full diagnosis chain is at DBT money not credited fix.
If you hold a Jan Dhan account and seeding is Active but payments are missing, the issue is likely with the scheme's beneficiary list, not the mapper; check the relevant scheme portal for your beneficiary status.
Status is “Not Linked” or “Inactive”:
Wrong bank is shown:
If your bank supports NPCI BASE self-service, initiate seeding or account movement on npci.org.in under the Consumer tab without a branch visit. Processing takes 2 to 5 working days.
If your bank has repeatedly failed to update the NPCI mapper despite written requests, you have recourse under the Right to Information Act, 2005.
File an RTI to: your bank (for the NPCI mapper update failure), to the concerned scheme department for scheme-level seeding status, and to UIDAI for issues specific to the myAadhaar portal record.
Ask for:

The myAadhaar portal reads from the NPCI server. If it shows Inactive, the NPCI mapper has not been updated regardless of what the bank's own system says. The bank completed KYC seeding but not NPCI mapper seeding. Return to the branch with a written request and collect an acknowledgement.
NPCI mapper updates typically take 2 to 5 working days after the bank submits the request. If the old bank still appears after 7 working days, follow up using your acknowledgement receipt.
Not on myAadhaar, which requires OTP authentication. If your mobile is not linked, visit the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre to add it, or ask your bank branch to confirm whether your account is registered in the NPCI mapper.
Active NPCI mapper seeding means the payment pipeline to your bank is open. The block is likely at the scheme level. Check your status on the relevant scheme portal and confirm your name is in the beneficiary list. Use PFMS “Know Your Payment” at pfms.nic.in to check whether the ministry sent a payment. See DBT e-KYC failed fix if the scheme portal flags a KYC error.
The NPCI mapper keeps only the most recent Active record. The bank seeded last is Active; the earlier one is automatically de-seeded. Check myAadhaar to confirm which is currently Active.
Yes, for participating banks. Go to npci.org.in, open the Consumer tab, and select Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE). You can request fresh seeding or move to another bank using OTP authentication. Processing takes 2 to 5 working days. If your bank is not integrated, a branch visit is required.
For myAadhaar portal issues: UIDAI toll-free 1947 or [email protected]. For NPCI mapper or BASE issues, contact your bank's customer care first; if unresolved, raise a complaint through the RBI Integrated Ombudsman (check the RBI website for the current complaints portal URL).
